NIEGE ET NOIRCEUR “Hymnes De La Montagne Noire”

NEIGE ET NOIRCEUR
“Hymnes De La Montagne Noire”
(Sepulchral Productions)
I’ve only read great things about Neige et Noirceur. Well. I’ve only read good things about that whole Qubecois black metal scene that seems to be going on in that region. I get the same kinda feeling I got when Necropolis Records was in business. That there is something bigger going on than just another black metal label releasing albums. Continue reading

TEMPLE OF BAAL/RITUALIZATION “The Vision Of Fading Mankind”

TEMPLE OF BAAL/RITUALIZATION
“The Vision Of Fading Mankind”
(Agonia)
Another split album comes my way. Is there somebody who’s trying to punish me? OK. I’ll be game for it then. Temple Of Baal are pretty intense death metal the way I like it. The way it was when I got into death metal back in the days (another referenced to my high age). I like it when the aggression is so there that you can almost touch it. Continue reading

THEOCRACY “As The World Bleeds”

THEOCRACY
“As The World Bleeds”
(Ulterium Records)
There are times when I feel like I’ve been living under a rock for many years. All of a sudden a band comes along that are well and truly far into their career and I have never heard of them. In those moments I realize that I have no great overlook on what is new and what is not new in the world of metal. There are simply too many bands to have full control of who’s releasing what. Theocracy are on their third album now and I have no clue as to who they are or what they play. Continue reading

ROB MANCINI “Rock’N’Roll Circus”

ROB MANCINI
“Rock’N’Roll Circus”
(GMG Records)
Somehow Rob Mancini’s name sound so familiar yet I’m sure I’ve never ever heard anything he’s done prior to receiving album. This is being described as a cross between Bon Jovi and Nickelback. One I like, the other I turn of whenever I hear it. As long as I’m only reminded of bon Jovi I’m happy as a kid at Christmas. Continue reading

PERSONA NON GRATA “Quantum Leap”

PERSONA NON GRATA
“Quantum Leap”
(Massacre)
I actually have no idea what to think of this. It wasn’t what I expected it to be and that threw me of my game. Once I’d found it again images of bands like Evergrey and Iced Earth and a host of others came flying by. Once I’m ready to describe this as progressive metal it turns into something different and I have to re-evaluate it again. Continue reading

PHASE REVERSE “S/T”

PHASE REVERSE
“S/T”
(Aural Music)
Greek hardrock/metal usually is of a pretty high standard. I can name a handful of great bands just like that. Phase Reverse might be added to that category if they keep it up like this. I am a big fan of Soundgarden and that was the first band that hit me while listening to Phase Reverse. Continue reading
