This is really just a short introduction to ABSOLUTION. A cool blues rock band from England. Check them out. Anders Ekdahl ©2016
How hard was it to come up with a band name and how does the name fit the music?
-The name was chosen just before the first show we played. We were struggling to find one, and then Doug (drums) saw a sign at the venue saying ABSOLUTELY no Smoking, and suddenly, the idea of Absolution came to him, and it stuck! As for how does it fit the music, I’d never really thought that through, we just create music and whatever comes out fits the template that we naturally create!
As I am new to your band perhaps a short introduction might be in order?
-We are a trio, So I am Joe, Vocalist and Guitarist, I have played for about 15 years and have been writing music for about six years. Doug is on drums and has played and toured for many years with many good names. Andy is the live bass player and has been with us for just over a year now.
When you are in a band does it feel like you are a part of a worldwide movement?
-I’ve never really thought of it like that, but I suppose it does. We’ve always just written music that we believed in and hoped that people would enjoy the records and come to some shows. Anything after that is a bonus!
How important is it that you look the part in promo shots and stuff? How important is the graphic side of the band?
-Image is very important. We try to have a standard look for promo material and live shows. We are also very aware of how a record looks, can make it easier or harder to buy and sell. We want people to look at our records and already have an expectation of the music before even listening to it!
What would you say influences your lyrics? How important are they?
-Trying to tell a story is very important. Conveying a message or a story via lyrics enables people to attach to a song and find it relevant to themselves or to enjoy it that bit more.
