In a world were there are so many bands to keep track of I want to bring my two cents in presenting you to this interview with APES OF GOD.Answers by: Robert Malcoms. Anders Ekdahl ©2019
You have one of these names that do not really tell what kind of metal you play. How hard was it to come up with the name?
-The name of the band comes from a sepultura song (apes of god) but we turned it into our own version, which is a cross of christianism and the total opposite of the theory of evolution by charles darwin, its some sort of sarcasm and irony.
How do you introduce the band to people that are new to your music?
-The usual question, “do you like extreme metal”? once they say yes they better be prepared for our old school death thrash metal.
We all carry baggage with us that affects us in one way or another but what would you say have been the single greatest influence on your sound?
-My metal master by digitech is a very reliable tool for my sound even if ive had different guitars that pedal is always with me because of how good it is.
What is the scene like in your area? Is it important that there is some sort of local scene for a band to develop or can a band still exist in a vacuum of no scene/no bands?
-This scene is full with ups and downs, its very important to have some sort of support from other bands, regardless if its a small support it is very much appreciated
Something I have often wondered about is if you feel that you are part of something bigger and greater when you play in a band, that you are part of a movement sort of?
-Yes, a band is a family we all have our lives and we all go through different situations and when we’re together we can be ourselves playing the music we love with the friends.
When you play the sort of music you play I guess you cannot have birds and bees on the cover of your album? What is a great album cover to you?
-A good artwork for an album will always be the one that transmits the message of the music altogether.
What is your opinion on digital verses physical? Is digital killing music?
-Physical material will always be the best, stan lee a big influence in comics nowadays stated on physical vs digital “a magazine is like boobs, its great to look at them, but it aint never gonna be the same looking at them versus touching them” ja!
What kind live scene is there for bands like yours?
-Here in En Salvador the most common genres are the brutal or extreme ones, like death metal, grind, thrash so we do have a good reception in this scene.
When you play live is it a happening or do you see it more as a party?
-Both, i like to think im bulding a legacy while i have fun with my bandmates
What would you like to see the future bring?
-I would love an international tour, south america, europe, it would be nice.
