ASHES IN VEIN has one of these names that doesn’t really tell you what kind of metal they play, yet does in weird sort of way. ©2015 Anders Ekdahl
Could you please introduce the band to us?
-I’m James play I bass and backing vocals we have Tyler who is lead vocals Zack who does guitar and backing vocals Jackson who is guitar we have Andrew who does drums.
When you regroup how easy is it to pick up the thread were you left it?
-Well it was kind a like starting over we wanted to change the style music we are playing and wanted to go heavier we had some lineup changes bringing in new people we also took original members and changed their position Originally Tyler was the drummer and later the lead guitarist and I was the lead vocalist so when everyone came aboard we knew what we wanted to do so we just had to start doing it.
How do you explain the meaning of the band name?
_It actually means something a little bit different to everyone but for me basically means all of the failed attempts you’ve made in your life you carry that it’s there in your veins it’s in your blood that’s what ashes in vein means
How important is image to the band? What impression do you want the fans to get of the band?
-We’re not to glam rock band image isn’t really at the top of our list the music we write is about things that happen in our lives and it’s music that we like to play and if everybody else likes it that’s great
I am a huge fan of LP art work. How important is it to have the right art work for your album?
-Unfortunately we’re all musicians
I have always liked the name Junction City. Perhaps the name is cooler than the place so how cool a metal scene is there in Junction City, KAN?
-If you had asked me that question about 10 years ago I would’ve said it was a cultural wasteland now the area has a growing metal scene with a lot of new bands coming out and we’ve had the pleasure to play with a lot of them some really good shows
When you play in a metal band does it feel like you are a part of massive community?
-Yeah certainly done a bunch of benefit concerts everyone comes together for one purpose one goal it is like a huge community here not only that we are you were doing things in different cities trying to go to different states so yeah I’d say it’s a massive community
How important is it to be signed to label today? What can they do that you cannot so on your own?
-I think it’s pretty important our music is reaching fans now that I don’t think we could’ve done just playing shows on our own without any kind of backing so yeah I think it’s pretty important to be on a label today
How much of a touring band are you guys? How hard is it to get gogs outside of the States?
-As of right now we’re not doing much touring but we do have some things in the works for the U.S. when it comes to getting gigs outside of the U.S. Wow that would be amazing no plans of that right now but we will cross that bridge when we get there.
What will the future bring?
-Hopefully lots of gigs a new full-length album and lots and lots of fun.
