As you might not be that known to most people a short introduction might be in order?
– Atrium Noctis is an epic symphonic black Metal Band from Cologne, Germany. Founded by Hydra Gorgonia back in 2002. The Band is currently releasing it’s 4th Album.
How does your latest recording compare to the previous ones?
-The new Album is more complex and epic than the last one. It also includes female backed classical vocals. This time the record was mastered by Martin Buchwalter.
Was it hard for you to come up with a sound you all could agree on?
How important are the lyrics to you? What kind of topics do you deal with?
-The Songs are always created along with a story, whereas though the music is prioritized in each song. The completed Stories are often basically about death and dying.
How important is the cover art work for you? How much do you decide in choosing art work?
-These days we consider the cover art work of very high Value. So it came to be that an artist painted the pictures in the book of the new CD in accordance to our Imagination.
Where outside of your country have you had success?
-We got a relative high approval from reviewers of the international Scene, mostly in the US, Canada and Czechoslovakia.
Is it harder today to get noticed both nationally and internationally than it was 10 or 20 years ago? Is the competition tougher today?
-We find it far more difficult to get noticed, than it was 10 or 20 Years ago, since there are a Lot more bands and trends.
What is your local scene like? What status does your band have in the national scene?
-The scene in Cologne mostly consists of carnival music. As an underground band, we are outsiders here, with an exotic status.
What is the general population’s opinion on playing music? Is being a musician a respectable choice?
What does the future hold for you?
-The release of the new CD, a professional band video, new merchandise, gigs and hopefully also a new label and a bit more fame.
