BELL is another Swedish band. From Gothenburg. Playing heavy metal. I think that says it all. Interview answersed byManne Flood Anders Ekdahl ©2017

When the band came into creation what was the main purpose for it?
-I think that the main purpose when me and Martin starting Bell was to feel free and play whatever came to our minds. Its much easier to write intresting music if youre able to do whatever you feel like!
Yes we do have alot of insperation in our riffs from genres like stoner and doom metal. But thats not the whole picture! Anything can happen. aslong we are banging our heads we are doing the right thing

How hard is it to come up with a sound that is all yours? What bits’n’pieces do you pick up from other stuff to make it your sound?
-Well.. Most of our songs is created when the band practise. I think its a big deal for the sound. Makes it more broad. It’s nice when a BAND actually writes the music and not just one guy. We do both of those things and we love it that way.

I have no idea what kind of creative process you guys go through but how hard is it to record and release new songs?
-Our great friend Fredrik Wester recorded our album Tidecaller and gave us some good inputs to our sound. Its great working with a friend that is very profesional. So its easy.

Today technology allows you to record at home and release your music digitally. But in doing so is there a risk that you release only single songs because that is what is demanded to stay atop and therefore you end up killing the album for example?
-No I really dont think so. An album is a experience.A single for a music video to represent an album may happen. but only to create some hype before the release.

I for one feel that the change in how people listen to music today, by downloading it and expecting to get it for free, will kill music as we know it. What kind of future is there for music?
-It’s a good thing that you can explore music much easier today. So many bands out there that kicks ass. I cant see a problem cause i think theres values to cds and vinyls anyways. it’s more like “trophys” nowdays that you can sit down at home and enjoy.

What kind of responses do you get to your music? What has been the thing that has gotten the most attention?
-The repsonse has been great. It seems to be a high demand for Bell in germany. Which is great because the metal scene there is huge !

We live in a world where there are no real distances between people communicating anymore. What has been the most surprising contact so far?
-Nothing to crazy yet. But it was a very pleasant surprise when Highroller Records contacted us!

Does playing in a band make you feel like you are a part of a greater community? What has music brought with it that you would have otherwise missed out on?
-A lot of partying! and lifelong friends! Most of my freinds are metalheads or musicians.

What is the live scene like for you? Do you feel that playing live helps building a bigger following?
-Acually Bell hasnt done to many shows. just like two local ones in our hometown Gothburg. But yes i think playing at good venues is a great way of spreading the name of the band. And we will try to get a tour going on soon!

What plans do you have for the future?
-We want to play live. As I mentioned before we are trying to make a tour happen. And also we are going to shoot another music video. And the next album isnt to far away. But no stress with that one right now.
