I am a word buff so when I find a band name that excites me I want to know the reason behind the choice. So how did you pick your name?
-Black Mamba was an all-female band at the beginning. Name? Well, girls at the beginning thought to the nickname of Uma in Kill Bill. Something which is truly lethal. The band was born in 2010. I joined the band after Cecilia joined my other metal band, Adimiron and Black Mamba ex-drummer left the job at the beginning of 2016. The current formation, power trio, was born at the end of 2016 and we did about 35 shows till now
There are so many genres and sub-genres today that it is hard to keep track of them all. So what was it that made you pick the style you play?
-We don’t care about really. If something is great, and bring you to move on time your head or foot, it’s great music. That’s what we really take care. But you know we are rock music lover but also session musicians and we love to mix different music genres like rock, funk, metal and progressive. lol
What influences you in creating your music? What is/has been the single greatest influence?
-As I said before, a lot of influences, from Funk 70s music to early Rock/Metal tunes. I, Cecilia and Irma are coming from the very different musical background. Composing together is everytime trying to figure out how a certain part should keep its integrity and music message without losing the “fun” part of composing a song.
How important is it to have a message as a band?
-Very important!! Extremely important. People want to be entertained, want to go away while watching your video or listening to your music and don’t think for 40 minutes to everyday problems. Each band can convey this message through music, lyrics or fashion style!
Is image an important factor in the band’s appearance?
-Again, yes! Like the message the band conveyed. It’s like when you meet someone for the first time. We are a 2/3 female band, so, attitude and how we dress on stage and in video clips is very important. But I say every time that if your music proposal is so and so, you can have all catchy attitude you want…
How important is it to have an album cover that stands out to grab people’s attention in this day and age?
-It’s important but I think nowadays is important to have a catalog to promote. With merchandising is the only income for bands today.
What kind of respect do you get from your local scene?
-We don’t usually play a lot near our hometown. We know the local scene and we respect each other.
How massive is it to get a response from places you have never heard of?
-It means your job, music, and promotion is working great!
Is playing live still a great way to get new fans to discover you?
-Absolutely! Especially when you play in a place where you never played before. If promoter did his job, is a blast.
What does the future have in its womb?
-Just two words on Black Mamba album. We currently released the first album of the band (people can get it here smarturl.it/GetHeritage ) out December the 14th 2017. Was a pleasure also for us to release also the first video from the record. Loop. You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KXH4mU3fGI
