CREMATÓRIO is a Brazilian band that brings to mind the bands from the 80s both in music and image. They take me back to a simpler, not simple, time. Anders Ekdahl ©2016
How hard was it to come up with a band name and how does the name fit the music?
-One of the most difficult tasks when creating a band is to choose a name that represents their respective ideas. Crematório is a strong name, which perfectly fit with our letters and identity. Bring the idea to incinerate all the negative things that we have to live.
As I am new to your band perhaps a short introduction might be in order?
-Crematório is a band of Black / Thrash Metal formed in mid 2015 in Divinópolis MG – Brazil. Idealized by Gabriel Pereira (bass), the band has: Sérgio Chegado (drums), João Victor Souza (guitar) and Ana Pedrosa (vocals). After the release of our first demo in March entitled “Incineração Bestial” by No Future Distro containing 5 tracks. We have some marked presentations and many plans for the future.
As I am no musician I have no idea how it works, but how do you make your own music based on what influences you? What parts do you pick?
-Our everyday this extremely connected with our compositions. fight and believe in the underground metal, where we have to fight for everything we desire.
hen you are in a band does it feel like you are a part of a worldwide movement?
-Yes, the world seems to be too small when it comes to extreme metal. we do an exchange with bands around the world, has always band from other countries doing tour for the Brazil and invite to play in our city. Coming soon we hope to be traveling everywhere promoting our work and abusing of insanity.
How important is it that you look the part in promo shots and stuff? How important is the graphic side
of the band?
-The graphic side is like the facade of a house. A cover well done or a publicity photo draws attention headbanger, bringing curiosity to explore the work of the band. We are very concerned with this issue, and we like to use black art in black and white. Incineração Bestial cover was designed by brazilian artist Emerson Maia (Salvador, BA), and the rest of the disc design made by Gabriel Pereira (bass).
What would you say influences your lyrics? How important are they?
-Our lyrics talk about hatred against religions of all types massive manipulation, political revolt, chaos, fascism and all types of prejudice, expressing the personality of each member of the band. This is what makes the real people, we preach in our reality music.
Is the album as relevant today as it was in the 70s and 80s? Is digital killing the album?
-With the arrival of the internet, and all the digital age, the number of record sales decreased relevantly. But still many people like to collect and have a physical material at hand. In Brazil are coming new vinyl factories, and the record market tends to grow again.
Where will the future of format end – digital verses physical verses whatever?
-I believe that everything tends to ease. With the internet we have more possibilities to know and have access to new bands, and even to purchase the physical album. Incineração Bestial was released in digital mp3 and CD-R, the next work will be released if possible in all available formats, physical and digital.
How much of a touring entity are you guys? What is a live experiencevwith you like?
-We enjoyed the interaction with the public and be with our friends. It is very rewarding to see that the audience enjoying this and shaking with this seeing. It is a very positive experience.
What lies in the future?
-We will launch a new demo this year titled “Genocídio Animal”, playing shows, figthing for the metal underground, resist, smoking, drinking beer and enjoy the fun!
