DRESCHER

I might miss out on the fun part of this since it is all in German but that won’t stop me from wanting to interview DRESCHER. So read this interview and then check out the band’s music. Anders Ekdahl ©2016

You have one of these names that tell me that some thought has been involved in the choice. How hard was it to come up with the name?
-It was a hard and rocky path over years to create a new music style. The band name was then very clear, because dresch means thrash in English and drescher is also the mäh-drescher which means harvester.

The competition is a killer these days so please tell us why people should buy your latest album?
-The first album “Erntezeit” also the 2nd one “Steinfeld” is rated everywhere in the press as highly innovative an high end production. This is the reason to buy these albums.

Do you notice that there is an anticipation for you to release an album? Have you built a large enough following for people to eagerly await a new album?
-The demand is still high since we innovate this new kind of music.

When you started the band did you do so with a clear intent of what kind of music you wanted to play? How hard was it to come up with a sound all your own?
-We started this band early 2012. But the Bernd and Gernot played in several projects since the late 80ies, early 90s. It was a hard way to create a new sound. Trial and Error was the rule.

Something I have often wondered about is if you feel that you are part of something bigger and greater when you play in a band, that you are part of a movement sort of?
-So it is!

When you play the sort of music you play do you feel that you can have whatever you like as art work for the cover of your album? What is a great album cover to you?
-“Erntezeit” and “Steinfeld” are great for us. Bernd an me, we are involved in every decision doing artwork for the band.

I have a great fear that the change in how people consume music today will eventually kill music as we know it. What is your opinion on digital verses physical? Is digital killing music?
-Music is dead! That’s reality. Maybe streaming services will reanimate music so is the hope.

Is the era of great arena tours as thing of yester? What kind live scene is there for bands like yours? What does the touring circuit look like today?
-Touring is only way to contact your fans, make money with music, so this is the reason why we play live.

When you play live is it a happening or do you see it more as a party?
-It is a party happens !

What would you like to see the future bring?
-Being world famous and rich.
