I know as much about EXALTER as I know about painting a picture but that doesn’t stop me from checking them out. Anders Ekdahl ©2016

When you formed the band with what intention did you do so? How easy was it to pick up a thread as to where your sound is going?
-The vocalist/guitarist Tanim and our ex-guitarist Tahseinur met at a gig. They used to go to the same university. Tanim offered Tahseinur to join Exalter and that’s how the band was formed to make thrash metal. After couple of days drummer Shuvo joined the band. This was the line up till October 2015. It took a while to figure out the original sound of the band. The listeners can distinguish between the change of sound in our latest EP ‘Obituary for the living’, from our debut EP ‘Democrasodomy’.
We believe our upcoming full length will give our fansthe taste of our new damned infectious sound in more details. Surprise awaits for all the thrashers. That’s all we can say for now.

As I haven’t recorded anything I have no idea what that is like but are you ever 100% satisfied? How pleased are you with your latest recording?
-We would definitely say that we are satisfied with our latest release but there is always something that you wonder if could have been made better. So from that perspective I think it’s hard to be 100% satisfied. Moreover, due to lack of right studio equipment we have to settle for whatever is available in our country and that’s a real buzzkill.
But we are looking forward to our next release and planning to make it better so that our fans will have a stronger and much brutal listening experience.

To me a band name is the first thing I notice. If it feels cool then I’ll check the band out. How do you explain the meaning of the band name?
-It means to glorify in honor.

How important is image to the band? What impression do you want the fans to get of the band?
-It is important of course but for us the most important thing is to write songs and release our stuffs. We area bandthat upholdsthe spirit of thrash metal and enjoy thrashing in live gigs, I think this would give the right impression about Exalter.

I am a huge fan of LP art work. How important is it to have the right art work for your album?
-Haha…cheers for asking it. We believe that one of the fundamental elements to complete the music is the artwork. The artwork of our second EP ‘Obituary for the living’ stands out from the first EP obviously as it is much more graphic now. Currently we are exchanging ideas for our full length’s artwork.

We live in a superficial world today where you don’t exist if you are not on Youtube and Facebook. Has social media been only beneficial in socializing with the fans or is there a down side to it too?
-Yeah it’s true that social media has become the biggestplatform for bands and musicians. We can also promote the digital avenues from our facebook page, which means chance of more people listening to our music. The down side is that it is not enough to have a great album with good artwork anymore, cause we have to worry about marketing as well.

Something I often wonder about is when you play in a band does it feel like you are a part of a massive community?
-Yes it does. It feels like we are part of a community who are aware of the fuckups that’s happening in our society. It’s a big brotherhood really.

How important is it to be signed to label today? What can they do that you cannot do on your own?
-Probably as important as having managers for a company. Our latest release is an evidence of that. Our label Transcending Obscurity has taken up the international marketing and distributions, which helped us to focus more in the quality of our music. Labels can also arrange international tours for us.

How much of a touring band are you guys? How hard is it to get gigs outside of your borders?
-We wish to tour frequently but haven’t done much touring yet.
It is not very difficult to be invited to play in the neighboring countries.we hope to tour in Thailand, India, Nepal, Indonesia in the near future.

What will the future bring?
-A killer full-Length album where madness will prevail.
