EYNOMIA is yet another cool band that I have just recently discovered. So read this interview and then check them out. Anders Ekdahl ©2017

You have one of these names that do not really tell what kind of metal you play. How hard was it to come up with the name? I am interested in Greek Mythology.
-Eynomia is actually spelled Eunomia. We liked the way it looked with the “y”. Eunomia is the Goddess of goodness and justice. To me it spoke of power and positivity.

As I am sure of we are quite a few that are rather new to you guys could you give us a short introduction to the band?
-Eynomia got together August of 2015. All of the members actually met on Facebook. It originally started out as a studio project but as it progressed we all had decided that things were meshing and to take it to where ever it can go. Eynomia is heavily influenced by Symphonic metal/rock, and Power metal bands of Europe.

We all carry baggage with us that affects us in one way or another but what would you say have been the single greatest influence on your sound?
-The title of the album “Break Free” is about starting over, moving on in life when things don’t go as planned and having a positive outlook. Eynomia’s music has many emotions. From power, epicness to melodic tenderness.

What is the scene like in your area? Is it important that there is some sort of local scene for a band to develop or can a band still exist in a vacuum of no scene/no bands?
-The music scene for original music here in Minneapolis is still in full force however we have had a few venue’s close that book metal music. People need to go out and support the bands to keep it alive. A band can succeed without having a local structure these days. All of us in Eynomia actually live in different states here in the USA. The internet has made this a possibility. There are many projects that the members are from different countries or states. They can record via the internet and then get together before a tour or show to rehearse and then go play.

Something I have often wondered about is if you feel that you are part of something bigger and greater when you play in a band, that you are part of a movement sort of?
-I believe that music is a way to move people emotionally. Music can send a message. So yes, I think we can impact peoples lives.

When you play the sort of music you play I guess you cannot have birds and bees on the cover of your album? What is a great album cover to you?
– I think the cover art should represent the concept of the songs. Our cover art was done by artist Timo Wuerz http://www.timowuerz.com/ He has done several metal covers for Pure Steele/ Purelegend records. This was hand painted. Please check out his website for more amazing art from him….
The cover is a burning Phoenix which symbolizes rebirth. As i have mentioned a lot of the Eynomia songs are about starting over, Moving on.. following your dreams. When a Phoenix dies is burns but then is reborn from it’s ashes and can live several years before it dies again. Basically a Phoenix is immortal. It also symbolized strength, and power and is a beautiful bird.

What is your opinion on digital verses physical? Is digital killing music?
-I think both are great options if you do not steal an artists music through free download sites. The other great thing about buying Vinyl or CD is you get the album art as well.

What kind live scene is there for bands like yours?
-Out type of music (Symphonic metal/rock) is actually huge over in Europe. Also most European bands come over here to play the USA as well.

When you play live is it a happening or do you see it more as a party?
-It’s a little of both. It’s important to put on a great/fun show but also for the fans/audience to have fun.

What would you like to see the future bring?
-I’d like to see us playing some big festivals and shows. We are also in the process of writing new material for the next album. Developing our sound. Take it as far it can go!
