FALLEN ARISE might not bring forth the biggest grin of metalheads faces but trust me when I say that you should check them out. Anders Ekdahl ©2014

Just so we know what we are dealing with could you please give us a short introduction to the ban
-First of all, I want to thank you very much for your hospitality and this interview! Fallen Arise is a band which counts 3 years in the metal scene, from the summer of 2010.We play symphonic metal music and we are six people in. Spyla and Chris are on the vocals(female and male), Frangiskos on guitars, Angel on bass, Thanos on the drums and me in the keyboards and piano.

How important is the band name to you guys? What does it mean to you?
-Actually the band’s name is a word trick if i may say. As you understand, fallen and arise are both different words that every one shows different shades of life, you know, when you feel up or down. I think is a name ,which characterizes our music ,because she has the ability to make you happy and in the next moment make you sad or whatever….so for me it is very important….

What was it that made you want to play the style of metal that you play? Was there a specific moment/artist/album that spoke to you?
-The most important was the love for orchestral music and the heavy distortion and drumming from metal music .Off course we have our bands, artists and albums that we admire, but this was not a reason for band’s creation….only the passion for music and especially this kind of music, a combination of atmosphere and aggresive metal element!

How do you as a band find your own sound? How much does environment play a part in how you sound? Is there a specific sound for your region/country pertaining to the style you play?
-No there is not something specific. Every style has its own sound from hard rock to death metal and this is the same in every band from every country. Of course , sometimes, the approach is different but the default element of sound in every style is quite the same.
Our sound begin to form from the first day of the band, you know, we had in mind ,what music we want to play ,so we had a plan. The chapter ”sound” for a band is not an easy issue.

Is art work and lay out still as important when more and more people download legally music to their phones or ipads/computers?
-Off course they are important. They are a big part in every band, because they are her image .I know that most people using their tablets, phones, computers or whatever to get the music but, there are also many people which still, love cd’s, vinyl’s and buy them. For those, there must be a way to recognize what is you and this way is the artwork, the layout, the logo, the photo…all of them.

Now that almost everybody has access to the internet and can reach out to the whole World how important is the community feel of a strong local scene?
-Well, I believe that we must be a community, I mean, we are artists, we love music, we have the same dreams, thoughts and targets….it will be more helpful stay united and focus of what we do…we have so many things in common.

How much does the climate you live (economical/political) influence you as a band?
-Actually,I wouldn’t say that this climate influences us,we never speak about a politic or economic situation into our music or lyrics. I believe that music is a gift, is freedom…so, nothing in common with those things…

How easy is it to get blinded by Facebook like when you know that you can buy them or a by countless hits on Youtube and think that you’ve made it big?
-I really don’t know…for us , Facebook , You tube and many others, are only a way for the publicity of our music, a connection with people which are interested to learn about us! Of course they are very helpfull and we are so pleased for that but we don’t want to be Facebook rock stars….and we have no illusions about that. We believe that If you want to make it really big….take you guitar and play in every stage you can….this will show you how big you are, or how big maybe you will be…..

What would you say is so great about your new album?
-The whole album. the approach of the creation, the collaboration with Fotis and Chris from Septic Flesh, Thimios from Innerwish, our contract with Noiseheadrecords….it is a really nice trip and still goes on….

What future us there?
-We wish you all the best for the future, thank you very much for this awesome interview! It was so nice to meet you and share with you some interesting things about us! God bless you!
