FULL THROTTLE BABY

I was so impressed by FULL THROTTLE BABY the first time I heard them that that I had to interview them. Anders Ekdahl ©2018

You have one of these names that do not really tell what kind of metal you play. How hard was it to come up with the name?
-Hi! Julien (the singer) answering. Thanx for your attention and support. First of all, i joined the band when the first members had already found the name. At the beginning, this name was clearly the right one to go through many musical directions : Rock, metal and punk as well.

How do you introduce the band to people that are new to your music?
-As i told you just before, there’s no frontier between those kinds of music. Smiling, sweating, drinking and moshin’!

We all carry baggage with us that affects us in one way or another but what would you say have been the single greatest influence on your sound?
-I would say REFUSED and THE BRONX for the bands, but most of all the pleasure to be together on the road, meeting people and having fun !

What is the scene like in your area? Is it important that there is some sort of local scene for a band to develop or can a band still exist in a vacuum of no scene/no bands?
-I think i can speak for my buddies. We developp so much more violence on stage, in the attitude even if we are relaxed people in the everyday life. Each venue is not a competition with the other bands, but an inner one. We try to upgrade ourselves and the symbiosis with the audience. And the audience gives us back the catharsis to go high.

Something I have often wondered about is if you feel that you are part of something bigger and greater when you play in a band, that you are part of a movement sort of?
-Not really. We don’t care about taking part of any movement. We go straight. We’re just proud to follow some leaderz like the MC5, THE EXPLOITED, MINOR THREAT and many more!

When you play the sort of music you play I guess you cannot have birds and bees on the cover of your album? What is a great album cover to you?
-For me it’s SLAYER. REIGN IN BLOOD.

What is your opinion on digital verses physical? Is digital killing music?
-No. We have to deal with it. Ed Sheeran for example, even if i’m not a fan of his music, is in the Forbes as one of the most fortunate musician of those days , and he came to the top thanks to Youtube, so…

What kind live scene is there for bands like yours?
-No. We have to deal with it. Ed Sheeran for example, even if i’m not a fan of his music, is in the Forbes as one of the most fortunate musician of those days , and he came to the top thanks to Youtube, so…

When you play live is it a happening or do you see it more as a party?
-BOTH.

What would you like to see the future bring?
-There’s already a big venue comin’ at Hellfest Open Air Festival, and many more will follow… We just hope to be alive for the 2nd LP! CHEERZ !
