Old school Swedish death metal? In 2017? You gotta be kiddin’ me. All jokes aside old school Swedish death metal never gets old. Check out GODS FORSAKEN if you don’t believe me. Anders Ekdahl ©2017

It might be that I am getting old but your name sounds so bloody familiar. I want to place you in the early 90s but I get you confused with God Macabre. Is that a good or bad thing that my mind drifts towards old school Swedish death metal?
-No its not a bad thing ,its drifting towords the right thing! This album is Swe Old School Death Metal with a litel twist! Yeah the name is Almost in the same league as Macabers! We took the name Gods Forsaken bequse we are getting fucking tierd of this gods / Religion shit! We Hope that they gets Forsaken in time!!

Do you have an aesthetic that you keep true to from recording to recording (i.e. stylistically same art work, lyrical theme etc.)?
-Yes on this project we will do that! Going to ask the same Guy that did the artwork for this album (Patrick Tegnader “Gravebomb”) to do the next cover! As for the lyrics! Jonny is going for the Rotten kind for the next! As for me I love the detail on covers/booklets and shit! So its going to be great!

How hard is it to come up with lyrics to the songs? When do you know that you have the right lyrics?
-The lyrics comes pretty easy as each song demands a certain type of vocals. Like “In a pitch black Grave” for example, as soon as we had the music done for it, we knew what the lyrics had to be.

I am old school. I like really cool album covers but from what I’ve gathered some bands tend to spend less on art work because people don’t buy records, they download songs. What are your feelings on this?
-The cover art is one of the most inportent things with an album I think , and alot of fun coming up with , same with the layou! If you go way back the layout work was SHIT! Okej the cover art was great! But the layout! SHIT! The projects and bands I playd with we have Always tride to finde great covers and making the layout as detailed as possibal! More fun to look in a booklet thats not the same on every page! And yes theres more dowloading now , but showing the coverart on a download link
Is as inportent as on a CD!

Do you ever feel that you get misinterpretated because of the music you play?
-I don’t ever feel misinterpretated! Hahaha

I get the feeling that fans that are true to a band, is a lost thing with the easy access to music these days. Do you feel that this is a bad thing or are there any positive aspects of it at all?
-Thats a good and bad thing , its not that easy to be seen this days! The World is getting overpoulated with bands , FB is getting overcook by bands posting there shit! No one cares anymore when you post your music , not many % checks it! You must go out and play live to be seen this days!

Back in the days you had to trade tapes if you wanted to hear new unheard of bands. Today you are just a click away from discovering new acts. Do you feel that this development in some ways will do more harm than good in the long run, that it will eventually kill off music as we know it?
-I don’t think the music is going to be killed , its going to disappear when we disappears from this earth!

I get the impression that today’s touring scene is most made up of festivals or multiple band line-ups. Is it harder/tougher to tour today?
-yes now days the festivals are taking over, maybe not for the bigger bands that have there ass covered! But for us the small people it’s more festivals , maybe a 2 , 3 day mini tour! But if you going on a bigger tour you have to buy in and that cost a shit load of money!

If you were to decide how would the stage show look like?
-Nothing special , just somthing to stand on Hahaha

What does the future hold?
-Up next After the debute is releasing a 7″ split with Paganizer and a CD/Cassette EP split with Paganizer! Other wise me and Jonny Petterson and Dave Ingram , Gustav Myrin , Jon Rudin is preparering to go out on the road with the project Just Before Dawn!
