GRIEVERS are new to me so I wanted to know a bit more about them. Anders Ekdahl ©2018
You have one of these names that do not really tell what kind of music you play. How hard was it to come up with the name?
G R I E V E R S: Bha … not so much! So much play station, beer, fantasy and in the end you find the right name for your band.
How do you introduce the band to people that are new to your music?
G R I E V E R S: Fortunally generally, our sound likes it!
We all carry baggage with us that affects us in one way or another but what would you say have been the single greatest influence on your sound?
G R I E V E R S: The major influences come from the melodic death metal of the Inflames, Archenemy and Children Of Bodom, although we have given attention to new bands like After The Burial, Parkway Drive, August Burns Red, Devil Driver and more.
What is the scene like in your area? Is it important that there is some sort of local scene for a band to develop or can a band still exist in a vacuum of no scene/no bands?
G R I E V E R S: Certainly it is important the metal scene… Unfortunately in Italy the metal scene is not appreciated much, in Italy pop music wins over everything.
Something I have often wondered about is if you feel that you are part of something bigger and greater when you play in a band, that you are part of a movement sort of?
G R I E V E R S: it’s nice to feel united on stage, hands go by themselves and make music together … those moments are the best where you really enjoy your friends doing something you love.
What is a great album cover to you?
G R I E V E R S: Wow, a lot, a great album brings you to remember a precise period of your life and is able to make you relive almost all the memories of that period. The power of music is immense!
What is your opinion on digital versus physical? Is digital killing music?
G R I E V E R S: The world is constantly evolving, and with it the electronics that influence the whole world of music, we are sincerely favorable, you have to find your way to work, what gives you the best results, but in this way all the big bands or small can make good music, certainly the important thing is to play it well live!
What kind live scene is there for bands like yours?
G R I E V E R S: In Italy as said before the extreme metal scene is not much followed, the genre that always wins is the POP, in the pubs you always find cover band or tribute rock band, hard rock …. unfortunately it is the wrong country for metal.
When you play live is it a happening or do you see it more as a party?
G R I E V E R S: Luckily when we play we always do it in fair settings where people appreciate metal music.
What would you like to see the future bring?
G R I E V E R S: We should go back to the beautiful and good music, stop with all the new bands where the guitar solos are only 1000 notes played at the speed of light, the music is tasteful, melody and rhythm, whether it is Funk, Rock or Metal the main ingredients remain and those will always remain. Thank you for the interview and www.grievers.net Bye!
