With so many cool bands out there to check out I offer you some minor guidance by introducing you to HELLRAIDERS. Anders Ekdahl ©2019

You have one of these names that do not really tell what kind of metal you play. How hard was it to come up with the name?
-Hi guys it’s Sirio here , first of all thanks for the interest in our band , you rock! well , i did choose the name of the band coz it sounded really good and it reminded also to the motorcycles world and i’m a Harley rider too

How do you introduce the band to people that are new to your music?
-if you are looking for a lethal dose of rock’n rollin’ old school heavy metal , we are the right ones! We just play what we like to and if you like it also…let’s headbang together. As somebody said it’s only rock and roll but we like it !

We all carry baggage with us that affects us in one way or another but what would you say have been the single greatest influence on your sound?
I don’t think there is just ONE big influence in our sound , we all are different people with different influences that’s what make our sound. We all are into NWOBHM and all the rocking heroes of the 80s and 70s. Whatever speaking about me , i could say Iron maiden and Motorhead.

What is the scene like in your area? Is it important that there is some sort of local scene for a band to develop or can a band still exist in a vacuum of no scene/no bands?
-well , Palermo area , where we live , is plenty of good realities think about Gothic Stone , Hellraiders, our friends in Ortro and many more but really few are into traditional heavy metal most of the new generation kids prefer to play extreme stuff. I think that nowdays it’s not strictly necessary to be part of a so called scene , you could reach your goals too by using internet and the other platforms to share music and stuff but of course it’s always better to have a real scene behind you, that keeps the heavy metal family alive.

Something I have often wondered about is if you feel that you are part of something bigger and greater when you play in a band, that you are part of a movement sort of?
-Of course , my answer is YES. We are all part of a big family all around the world: “Put yourself in our hands so our voices can be heard and together we will take on all the world”

When you play the sort of music you play I guess you cannot have birds and bees on the cover of your album? What is a great album cover to you?
-Cover must reflects what kind of music you play and it have to give to the listener the idea of the music he’s gonna listen to. In our case , we choose a real “street” atmosphere but with a Mad Max scenario( which is one of our biggest influence too ). About me , the cover artwork that changed my life it was KILLERS (IRON MAIDEN ).

What is your opinion on digital verses physical? Is digital killing music?
– Don’t think digital is killing the music it’s just a different way to manage it, but if you want my personal opinion , i don’t consider at all mp3 as a real musical support ,to have the hard disk full of mp3 it’s like don’t own any album at all. I keep on listening ( and sometimes buying ) to my LPs and CDs but as i told before is just a personal opinion.

What kind live scene is there for bands like yours?
– we usually play in small clubs all around here but it would be great to play in some bigger festivals like keep it true

When you play live is it a happening or do you see it more as a party?
– Both of them , its an happening coz we try to give the best everytime we hit the stage taking care about all the details to offer the best performance to our crowd and it’s a party coz we are all fuckin’ party animals!

What would you like to see the future bring?
-Gigs around , spread our music even more all around the world and of course tons of beer and rock and roll!
