HELL’S GUARDIAN

HELL’S GUARDIAN is another cool band that needs to be checked out. Interview answered by Freddie Formis. Anders Ekdahl ©2018

How hard was it to come up with a band name and how does the name fit the music?
-The band’s formation was born as a game, we were young and the choice of “Hell’s Guardian” was almost casual. We liked to give the band a dark image that resumed the genre and the instrumental part of the songs.

What was it that made you want to be in a band in the first place?
-My brother and I always had a passion for metal music and thanks to our father we grew up with the desire to create one of our own. After completing the band formation and thanks to the strong passion that unites us, we have succeeded.

As I am no musician I have no idea how it works, but how do you make your own music based on what influences you? What parts do you pick?
-The main idea always starts from a guitar melody and from there develops the rhythm section, after the instrumental part we dedicate ourselves to the lyrics.

When you are in a band does it feel like you are a part of a worldwide movement?
-For now, it’s just a common passion of mine and the band and talk about the world level is soon, even if we are constantly growing thanks to our experiences in Europe.

How important is it that you look the part in promo shots and stuff? How important is the graphic side of the band?
-Nowadays social media are the main tool to make the band known, the graphics, the videos and the photo sets have become more and more important. We dedicate a lot of our time, in addition to music, to social networks.

What would you say influences your lyrics? How important are they?
-For this latest album “As Above So Below” we are inspired by real facts concerning the emotional and psychological sphere, focused on those invisible but concrete worlds that are created inside the mind in each of us. There is no real message, we prefer everyone to get involved in their own way.

Is the album as relevant today as it was in the 70s and 80s? Is digital killing the album?
-Surely digital is taking over the music world, but we still do not give up the pleasures of the physical format.

Where will the future of format end – digital verses physical verses whatever?
-In my opinion, in a future the physical formats will be more and more for the few and for the real fans, now among the young the streaming platforms are increasingly used.

How much of a touring entity are you guys? What is a live experience with you like?
-Since we are young, every time we play live, we don’t think twice about using all our energy on stage and we have fun keeping the show exciting and entertaining the audience as much as possible.

What lies in the future?
-For now, we are trying to promote “As Above So Below” as much as possible on various social networks, we know that it is an album that deserves to be heard and we are very proud of it. We are also planning a new official video that will be a lyrics video that will be released soon.
