As you must now by now I like to discover new bands. INNFIGHT are new to me. ©2016 Anders Ekdahl

How hard was it to come up with a band name and how does the name fit the music?
-During the recording sessions we sat in the studio and went through the lyrics and the mood of the songs that we’ve had. We realized that most of them are very personal and let the listener come very close (like in an actual Infight). And also there is that meaning of having these INNER fights inside of you from time to time, in different situations of life.
So we created the word INNFIGHT as our band name and a perfect statement for the band.

As I am new to your band perhaps a short introduction might be in order?
-In November 2013 I’ve met my old freind Sascha Wagner ( Git. ) . We talked about writing some songs together, just for fun and see what comes out, and if we like the results we want to change this projekt into a real Band…And the rest is history.

As I am no musician I have no idea how it works, but how do you make your own music based on what influences you? What parts do you pick?
-I think that everybody and also every musician is influenced by a particular kind of music or bands that he or she likes to listen to. For me personally, when it comes to writing, I don’t look at it like…Let’s take a part of Linkin’ Park and mix it with some AC/DC or something like that. As a musician, like any other artist too, you ( hopefully ) get inspired by things that happen in my own life, or something happens to a freind or your read soemething on the news. You can get inspired from so many different things, as long as you live with open eyes and ears. Either for a melody, a rythmic idea, or a lyric. And then you try to safe this Idea. Record it roughly. Write it down, or just sing it into your mobile phone for example…And later on we record it as a demo in our home studios and then arrange it until the final recording.

When you are in a band does it feel lkke you are a part of a worldwide movement?
-Well, if you see this in a philosophical way : Music is THE universal language of the world.
There are a lot of people who are making music in so many different ways and forms. And I like this very much. There are even more people that are like to listen to music. Every single day, if it’s possible. And if our music or music in general can help to make our world at least a little bit better, than I’m really proud to be a part of this worldwide movement !

How important is it that you look the part in promo shots and stuff? How important is the graphic side of the band?
-Well, we realeased our actual debut – CD by ourselves, so we had the need but also the creative freedom for not only the music and the lyrics, but also for things like the Band-logo, the Artwork, the band-photos and stuff like that. Our singer came up with the logo and the Artwork and supported the mood of the lyrics with that, and we liked it very much.

What would you say influences your lyrics? How important are they?
-Our singer writes all the lyrics, so I think he would answer this question a bit different than I will, but I hope I will represent his opinion as good as I can. 🙂
From my point of view, most of the lyrics on “Boulevard Of Pain” are very, personal.
We are not a band that writes about elves and dragons, also no “Party-Metal-lyrics”. There are a lot of personal feelings involved and I think you can here a lot of these emotions when you listen to the songs on the album.

Is the album as relevant today as it was in the 70s and 80s? Is digital killing the album?
-I think it depends. Personally I am a kid of the 80’s. So I like to have a physical CD or even record in my hands. Look at the cover, the artwork, reading the lyrics in the booklet, while listening to the songs. But most of the kids today prefer the digital way.
The “download-generation”. Sometimes they just take certain songs that they like, instead buying the wohle album. But it’s the modern age and we have to deal with it. Otherwise not all of this is bad, for example with socaial media platforms like Facebook or YouTube you can reach a big amount of people in almost no time. People from all around the world can get information about your band and you can spread your words ( and music ) worldwide. This is great. And I am glad that we have these opportunities, these days !

Where will the future of format end – digital verses physical verses whatever?
-I don’t know…There has been so much changes in the last 20 years…But also these days the good old vinyl records have their comeback with more and more releases. But for me the format is not that important. I hope that the people all around the world can make and listen to music. And also treat the musicians and their form of Art with respect, which brings so much fun and joy to them and their lives.

How much of a touring entity are you guys? What is a live experiencevwith you like?
-Well….we will have our first live show with this band in a few days and we included 2 new members…So at this point….I hope there will not too many “bad” live experiences, after the first shows.

What lies in the future?
-After our first live shows we are starting the song writing for our next album. Hopefully we can start recording around the end of 2016 and I hope we will have the chance to play a lot of cool live shows in 2016 and hopefully see also some of you guys on the road !!!
All the best…
