How important is the band’s name in giving out the right kind of vibe?
-Any name of any band is important. In our case it’s the name of the singer, and Russian old Letter alphabet translates it as “Uniting a man with the universe I become united with Ra”

What was it that made you want to do the band?
-The band has become the expression of us. The interest for music appeared in childhood in every one of us. Metal is a great way to tell our pro and con, to declare about ourselves as personalities without hypocrisy and pretense, and to tell to everyone: “im playing metal, goddammit, and will speak through the stage and music, all that’s in my head.

What is your definition of the music you play?
-We call it: Aggressive groove pagan metal.

How do you arrange the tracks? Is there a method to how you arrange the songs on a record?
-Pavel composes the basis of tracks and we do arrange them during the rehearsals.. Than we get prepared to the recordings and spend a lot of time at a recording studio. As for the lyrics, I write them and Anna does the translation.

Where do you find your inspiration to create?
-Inspiration is the whole world around us, but as a matter of fact it doesn’t find us, it’s us who find it. Sometimes you feel yourself like a mentalist, who carries all the information from the upper worlds. You only need hands to write down the lyrics or a musical instrument to play.

How important is the graphic side of the band? How much thought goes into art work etc.?
-For every metal style the Art work means a lot, it should be a part of music ideas for any album in order to guide a listener to the right way or to create a choice for him and possibility to think about great things in his head. The art work for the album is prepared by our bass player Vitaliy and all the band discuss them.

Do you find that there is a greater freedom in working with digital than working with physical?
-From all sides, for the musicians the freedom is in the music sale either digitally or physically, but financial part is veiled. But digital is comfortable, nothing more.

Are there any limitations to digital? Can you do everything you like?
-I’ll say again, that digital is comfortable and nothing more at nowadays. Digital things give you phantom perception of creation but we put so much energy, ideas and strengths, time and money, and final work will fit into 100 mb in someone’s smartphone or laptop. But it’s a different story when you are holding a cd in your hands that transmits the atmosphere through the art work… it’s the way the band sends you appropriate images. By the way the word ‘image’ among the Slavonian people means a lot because it’s connected with the divinity of every action.

Is there a scene to speak of for a band like yours? Where do you fit in?
-We are not here to judge, but we haven’t seen any clones yet. We think we are combined with different metal styles from pagan to core and symphonic black metal

What does the future hold?
Taking into the consideration the nature of the album ‘Roots of Veles’ we prepare a continuation… the album is going to be in the form of music reconstruction of the old Slavonic sags embodied into heavy groove pagan metal style. Pagan part of it is to tell to the world about greatness of god tribes from the country of gods. We want to recreate the atmosphere of the life of our remote ancestors to 100 generations… show their ideas, great battles in the time when the Sun was a god.
