This band’s name is like a tag you get when incarcerated. You are now KILLER4. No name, no dignity. Just a tag. As a band name it works because it got my imagination running. Anders Ekdahl ©2016

What fascinates me is how you can still come up with new combinations of chords to make new songs and sounds that have not been heard before. What is it that fascinates you into coming up with new songs and albums?
-That’s good, for sure we love new combinations, but the most fascinating thing it’s the idea of music which born into head firstly and then we can transfer into music. It’s always so exciting !

How is this new recording different from the previous? How do you take your sound one step further?
-We never published nothing before this. It’s our first work, it’s a five-track ep which combines rudeness, spontaneity and authenticity in all songs.
We have as much new songs not yet recorded which don’t move away from the record, but for future we’re going to add something new in our sound.

When you write songs about the topics you do what kind of reactions do you get? How important is it to have a message in your lyrics? What kind of topics do each song deal with? Is there a red thread to the songs?
-Lyrics are written by our singer (except Borderline Girl) and are strictly personal. We can say the red thread is love. All our songs speak about love histories, failures, disillusion, pain and so on. It’s not so happy but it’s the truth about.

Whenever I think of you I cannot help wandering off to different bands. What bands/sounds do you indentify with?
-We all have different musical backgrounds starting from punk, hard-rock, new-wave, post-punk, grunge etc…All these forge the Killer4 sound.
We can speak about a tons of great bands we love taken from various musical scenes, but we think we have our own personality which is quite near to post-grunge.

How did you go about choosing art work for this new album? What was important to have in it?
-When we planned the ep one of the most important think (beside music) was the cover of the record. Exactly as the band name it must be istantly attractive.
Our graphic designer submitted us a pair of proposals and we choose for the red cover gun which remind our band name too. We wanted the ep like a shotgun and the cover as it.

Something that scares me a bit is this I hear from more and more bands that they aren’t that bothered with art work anymore because people today download rather than buy physical. To me the whole point is to have art work that matches the music. I don’t know how many times I’ve been disappointed by weak art work to an otherwise cool album. What’s your opinion on this subject?
-We totally agree with your statement. Artwork is important like music because people firstly look at the record before to listen to it. Presentation is important !

How do you come up with song titles? What do they have to have to fit the songs?
-Songs titles are strictly connected with lyrics. Maybe a part of them or representative. Possibly they must be short sentences which are well reminded.

I use Spotify and Deezer but only as compliment to buying CDS (it’s easier to just have your phone or pad when your out) but I fear that soon music as we know it will be dead and buried. What are your worries as a band?
-This is an important topic for the future of music: we well know digital downloads are easier to manage (we too are users) and we well share your worries about physical music disappear.
But onestly we think it will not happen. People who love music bought, buy and will continue to buy CD’s and LP’s. But the most important thing will be the generation handover for this great love for music.
It’s a cultural handover. We are optimistic about and we are now planning to print our ep on vinyl. Even sale statistics confirm that LP’s sales are increased !

How much of a live band are you? How important is playing live?
-If you make a record and don’t play it live which kind of band are you ? All bands have to play live more than they can, expecially rock bands. Play live helps to well known, merge and strenghten ourselves.

What lies in the future?
-We are now preparing new songs. Therefore a full-lenght album is our first project for future.
We actually can’t estimate it’s realization but for sure we want to record it as soon as we will have enough new material.
In the meanwhile live gigs are always welcome. So please follow us on for news about the band !
