If you know metal you will know LEATHER. If not here is your chance to correct it. Anders Ekdahl ©2018

Do you feel that is has gone the way you intended when you started back in the days?
-My only goal when I started was to be able to write , sing and perform. To express myself musically.
I never had the illusion of grandeur….which is what most people call fame.
I have been thankful and understanding of my place in the Metal world most of the time … lol…..It is a blessing to be in the game at all.

How do you feel about your latest recording? Did it come out the way you expected it to?
-It has always been a weird situation for me to listen to a record after the final vocals are done…..I just hear what I should have done better. What I would change.
I am mostly happy with the results of” Leather II” vocally….I am extremely pleased with the performance of the band!!.They killed it!!!

What is the biggest difference between being in a band and fronting a band with your name as a solo artist?
-It just means I make the final decisions with the help of my manager Rodrigo Scelza. Well, most of the time….lol. The work and the path are still the same…hard work, sweat and swearing…and my favorite phrase…”one more time please”

Is having a message in the lyrics important to you? What kind of topics do you deal with?
-Absolutely , the lyrics are extremely important to me…..Although I think to the people listening, the melody comes first. For “Leather II” I simply wrote about my experience meeting my new family, our new chapter in Metal… and of course their are always thoughts of Dio. I haven’t been this inspired and motivated in a very long time.

How important is the cover art work for you? Can a really cool cover still sell an album in this day and age of digital download?
-We just wanted something simple and to the point. To make a statement that I’m back with a great band.
I believe we accomplished that. It was done by Jobert Mello from” Sledgehammer Graphix” with the direction of Rodrigo….
I still believe that covers attract friends of Metal for sure…

Why is it so hard for bands that come from places not the US or UK/Sweden/Scandinavia to break big? What is success to you and is it something you’d like to achieve?
I have no answers for that. There are bands from all over the world that break and that don’t .
I do think the US has become very American Idol, as Ronnie once said.. It is a pop image, money machine here. More rock oriented than Metal. That is why they call it the music business! Success to me has always been to be able to do nothing but music for a living. I will always strive to do that..but I am privileged that music allows me along for the ride.

Today the competition is harder. You got plenty of digital platforms for new talent to display their music. How do you do to really stand out in a world where everything but the music is blind to the listener?
-Again, I cant answer that. So many talented bands out there that no one knows about. So different from the 80″s when labels and management would go to clubs looking for you! My advice, if you are in love with what you do…Keep going… Success is in the process. It can be fulfilling and life changing if that’s who you are.

With the fall of Harvey came a greater awareness of the crap that women are subjected to in the entertainment industry. I have never ever made a distinction between gender and capability but what kind of crap have you encountered in the entertainment world?
-Nothing worth discussing. My mind isn’t that small. I have proven myself many times over. I am a worthy vocalist regardless of what is in between my legs. All I concentrate on is getting better everyday.

Rock and metal has come a long way since the early 70s but still some people’s attitudes towards it seem to be left in the stone age. How accepted is metal? Is it like in Finland where it seems to come with the mother’s milk?
-Outside of the US, everything is Metal…There is a love of the genre that runs so deep. It is incredible.,
During this past year I have considered moving to Europe. The doors are wide open

What does the future hold for you?
-VinnieTex, Daemon Ross, Thiago Velaquez and Braulio Drumond are my future. The release of “Leather II” will prove this. Our priority is the road. It has been calling our name since we met in 2016. The Leather Leone Band or as I call it LLB. Love and Dio
