MADAME MAYHEM

MADAME MAYHEM might very well be the next sensation of the metal/hardrock sky. So remember where you read about it first. Anders Ekdahl ©2017

Every band has to introduce their music to new people. What is it that you want people to get from listening to you guys?
-First I want people to enjoy the music, of course. Also, the new songs are very personal to me. The lyrics come from real life experiences I was dealing with at the time, and some topics I continue to struggle with today. I hope the listeners can relate to the new music and make it part of their own lives. Relatable songs are some of my favorite kinds of songs, so I try to do the same in my music.

How hard was it for you guys to pick a name? What had that name have to have to fit your music?
-My parents started calling me Madame Mayhem years ago because whether I caused it or not, Mayhem seemed to follow me wherever I went, and then the name just stuck. So when it came time to choose a name, it made sense to use it.

Everybody is influenced by certain things. What band(s) was it that turned you on to the kind of music you play? What inspires you today?
-I have a very eclectic taste in music, but I truly love Hard Rock and Metal. I am also a trained singer so melodies and harmonies are important to me as well. My mother listened to Grunge music when I was a baby so that was some of my first music listening experiences. Then as I got older my taste got heavier. It’s hard to say what exactly inspires me at any given time, it’s just a feeling of inspiration I get in the moment from whatever it may be.

When you started did you do so with the intent of knowing what to play or did you do so from the point of having a band name and then picking a sound? How did you settle on the name/sound combo?
-I knew I wanted to be a musician, a singer, a performer. I am a rocker at heart so it only made sense to do this. All artists constantly evolve as I think I have with every step in my career, and will continue to do so.

I believe that digital is killing the album format. People’s changing habit of how they listen to music will result in there being no albums. Is there anything good with releasing single tracks only?
-I am personally a fan of full album releases, which is why I try to do the same. Our new album “Ready For Me” is a 13- track release and is officially available October 20, 2017.

What part does art-work and lay-out play when you release new recordings? How do you best catch people’s attention?
-We just do the best we can to incorporate the energy and attitude of the live show into all of our marketing materials. The point gets across on the “Ready For Me” album cover with the strong photo of my face and the spiked gloves.

Has social media re-written the rules on how to promote your music? Or do you go about doing promotion the same way?
-I guess it has. I connect with fans and fellow music lovers through our social media pages and through our email list which people can sign up/”subscribe” for free on at our website www.MadameMayhem.com . Interviews like this help with promotion too.

When you play in a band, does that make you feel like you are a part of a scene, of something bigger and grander?
-Playing in a band is like being part of a family. My band is part of my music family.

How much of a touring band are you? Is touring/gigging still a great way of spreading the word of the band?
-We are actually on the road right now. Performing and singing live is my true passion, so we tour as much as possible. It is definitely a great way of spreading the word of the band.

What will the future bring?
-I hope it will bring more music from Madame Mayhem and more touring opportunities to spread these songs around the world.
