In a world were there are so many bands to keep track of I want to bring my two cents in presenting you to this interview withMÖRKVIND. Anders Ekdahl ©2019
How hard was it to come up with a band name and how does the name fit the music?
-It was not difficult, it was a natural expression of our sound. our music wants to be a wave of sounds coming from the dark and distant recesses of nature, Mörkvind.
What was it that made you want to be in a band in the first place?
-affinity of ideas. our mix is unique.
As I am no musician I have no idea how it works, but how do you make your own music based on what influences you? What parts do you pick?
-it all starts with the arrangement, which is translates one’s emotions into music.
When you are in a band does it feel like you are a part of a worldwide movement?
-we can feel part of a type of musical current, as a folk genre, but we prefer to have our own unique expression.
How important is it that you look the part in promo shots and stuff? How important is the graphic side of the band?
– very important. everything must convey the idea contained in your album. The graphics are an integral part of the music in my opinion.
What would you say influences your lyrics? How important are they?
-Our personal life experiences. Living away from urban centers and immersing yourself in nature to rediscover our ancient spirit. These are the main themes of our lyrics.
Is the album as relevant today as it was in the 70s and 80s? Is digital killing the album?
_Both Alice and I are over 30 years old. we grew up in the music stores leafing through LPs and cassettes. Digital has changed everything. maybe it took a little some from the music.
Where will the future of format end – digital verses physical verses whatever?
-simplicity will win
How much of a touring entity are you guys?
-What is a live experience with you like? We don’t think it will happen soon. perhaps in the future it might be possible
What lies in the future?
-we need time to gather more ideas. maybe in the future a second album. We will focus on quality concept albums.
