This OUTRAGE was not what I expected. They turned out to be soemthing completely differnet, yet very good. So I had to interview them. Anders Ekdahl ©2013
Where does the band name come from? What is the outrage?
-Outrage is standing for all the bad things which happen in the world every day,
There is no day without an OUTRAGE. So we thought that´s a good name for us.
When you start a band do you do so with a clear intention of where you want to go both artistically as well as musically or does that come with time?
-From the beginning we knew that we want play death metal and this was the
How did the members of OUTRAGE come together? How tough is it to get the right people together?
-In our hometown there was a death metal band called Downfalls Embrace.
The half of the band wanted to play death metal and the other one black metal, so they split.
Our first drummer, our guitarist Manuel and I heard that and we contacted the guys who wanted to play death metal. After a few jam sessions Outrage was born. This was in the year 2000.
It´s very hard to find good musicians with ambition and endurance.
From the founding members only 2 persons are left, Manuel our guitarist and I.
But every change was a Progress.
In forming a band is it important that there is a strong local scene? How has the internet changed the feeling of community in being a local band playing local shows? Does it still feel that you are a product of your surrounding area?
-The local scene is very important for underground bands like us, over the years it pushed us to what we are to today. The Internet is boon and bane at the same time. You can catch so much people and bring out your music all over the world. But there are so many bands out there, so it´s very hard to catch attention. And illegal downloads kill music. Because of the internet we do not play more local shows but we got a lot of new fans.
What cool bands are there in your region that you’d like to push for? Is competition a good or bad thing in your area?
-We have a lot of cool bands here in our region. Sole Method, The Last Warning, Darkfall, Proll Guns are some of them. Competition vitalizes the scene, I think this is positive.
When you record your first songs do you do that as a sort of showcase just to make your name known or do you do that with a grander intent of becoming world famous?
-Preferential we recorded our first demo to promote Outrage and make our name known.
Of course every band should have the ambition to get world famous. This is the dream of every musician.
Is it important that the band has both a musical style that is its own as well as a graphic look that can easily be identified?
-The main intent is to make good music. The best look is useless without good music. But it´s also important to create your own style /show.
What kind of reactions have you had to the band and its music so far? What is the furthest away response that you have had?
-The most reactions are great but you cannot appeal everyone. We are very contented we with the feedbacks we got.
A guy from America contacted us and gave us a positive feedback to our music. And guys from Russia and Ukraine ordered CD´s.
Do you agree that digital is killing the music scene as we know it now?
-We have to agree it!! There is no way out. If people download our music they should do it on the legal way. The price for a legal download of our new album is only about 8, — Euros,
and this should be affordable for every “real” metal head. If I want to have a new album from a band I always buy cd´s or vinyl. I like it to scroll in booklets.
What future is there?
-At first we have a few release Shows in the next weeks. And we are looking for a lot of club and festival shows for 2014. Maybe we enter the studio again in 2015 for a new album. The future is an OUTRAGE… HELL YEAH
