Paola 1Ever since I first heard Yngwie Malmsteen guitar albums been an almost dirty passion of mine. PAOLA PELLEGRINI is an Italian guitar player that I really wanted to check out. Anders Ekdahl ©2016

Was it hard to come decide on a name?
-Having been a member of various bands, I started my solo career: PAOLA PELLEGRINI LEXROCK, coining the terms LEX=LAW and ROCK to describe my commitment to protect the constitutionally guaranteed rights of people ( I’m a criminal lawyer for job) and the sense of disruptive force and love for authenticity which is ROCK. I write music and lyrics and the name of my band, and my music too, rapresents me

Who would say are the founding stones of the kind of sound you have?
I was literally tunderstruck as a young girl when came out “Appetite for Destruction” by Guns ‘n’ Roses and since then I have not stopped listening to hard rock , punk and metal . I really loved the classics and I still love them , see Black Sabbath , Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Ramones, Iron Maiden, AC / DC, Elvis . All that came after has there its roots.

When you play slow do you have to think differently arranging the music than if you play faster and vice versa?
– My music reflects my feelings, so inspiration can bring me to play faster or slower but anyway heavy! In my new album “Dreams come true”, you can listen the differences beetween a speed punk song like the opening track “Love my game” and the doom atmosphere in “Senza difesa”. It s always me, in different feelings.

How does your music work in a live environment?
-I have a power trio: I play guitar and sing, then I have a bass player and a drummer. It s the most simply and effective way to play !!

Paola 2You have some releases to your name. Which one are you the most proud of?
-After recording my first demo album “Agape” (2013) , I have just released my first professional album “Dreams Come True” (2015). I have written all music & lyrics, I had many songs ready and when I found the right way to realise what I wanted, everything has gone very fast and very easily. Unlike the first album with just 1 song in english, this disc contains 11 songs of which only 2 in Italian. The album is all about love: not mawkish or superficial love, but love translated into music, sometimes angry, sometimes poetic, sometimes fun, but all the time with great passion and emotion. Even in the darkest and aggressive episodes i.e. the song “Amore Abissale’= Abyssal Love, the underlying message of the album is hope. Dreams can come true, including the dream of true love. We can always keep moving forward believing in it, even when we know that pain and sorrow will always try to infiltrate their way into every searching moment for authenticity and lasting happiness. I m very proud of this album, that is having very good reviews not only from Italy and also people are writing me that they liked.

Is it hard to reach out to all those that might be interested in your music? What alleys have you used to get people familiarized with your band?
-Of course it s not easy to let people know your music, specially in Italy where there is not much space for hard rock music. I’m promoting the album with interviews and various events and I’m also playing live

What to you is a great front cover? What should a cover have to make it great?
-I think a cover must express the soul of the album. That s why in the cover of my albums there is me with my guitar: a girl with a Gibson Les Paul, this is the plot of my album!

Do you feel that you are part of a national scene? What is the climate for metal in your country?
-Yes I feel part of my national scene and last month in february I won a national award: Sanremo Music Awards 2016 for best original song played by a band. It was amazing: I played in San Remo city during the days of the most important music festival in Italy and then I went to Montecarlo, Monaco to get the prize. But I feel part not only of a national scene but of the whole hard rock movement.

How do one promote oneself the best possible way?
-Of course play live is the first thing but Internet is very important today and also the support by the rock lovers all over the world is the best way to let your music be better known. Also the webmagazines are very important because they give the opportunity to be known also in other countrys. So I thank you very much for this interview!!

What does the future hold?
-I’m playing live and I’m writing new songs. You can check all the news in my website: and in my facebook page:
