There are so many great bands in the world that there is not enough time to check them all out. But I will do my darnest to at least get to know some, like PRIMAL ATTACK. Anders Ekdahl ©2017

What pressure is there in releasing an album compared to a demo? Do you feel that there is a sort of pressure to succeed when you release and album, that it sorta is for real now?
-We never feel any pressure when releasing any albums or demos. The reason is simple: We don’t make a living from our music, so whether or not our album is successful, it doesn’t make a difference to us, we still have to go to work on Monday. This leaves us greater artistic freedom.

When you release a record of any sort what kind of expectations do you have on it? Do you set up goals for it?
-Of course, when we start writing a new album, we try to give the best that we have to give. It’s always a personal challenge to write better songs, provide a better album and to be satisfied with the results. We always welcome the feedback from our fans however, when we like a particular song, there is a very good chance that our fans will like it too.

When you release an album and you go out and play live and people know your songs, how weird is that? That people know what you have written on your own?
-We always take great pleasure when releasing a new album. We like writing new songs but it’s nothing compared to when we play shows because that is where the real pressure it: The audience has listened to our songs and they have travelled to come and hear us play them live. It’s so impressive to see when people know our songs as well as we do.

Do you feel that you have to follow in the footsteps of the last album for a new when it comes to lyrics and art work for everything so that those that bought the previous record will recognize your sound?
-Our music resembles what we like to listen to and play. Ever since our first EP we have always tried to make sure that our lyrics and artwork satisfy each of the band members. There is an evolution from one album to the next but for the moment we don’t foresee any massive change in our influences.

Do you feel like you are a part of a greater community because you play in a band?
-Playing in a band definitely helps you meet lots of other musicians, fans and venue organizers. You can find yourself having conversations about various subjects with people from different countries and who have their own view of the world. It’s very culturally enriching (…and we get to drink free beer together – always a pleasure).

How hard/easy is it to come up with new songs that that still are you but doesn’t sound like anything you’ve already written?
-Up until now we haven’t ever really written new songs that differ greatly to what we have usually played. It usually comes down to whether or not we like the new song that is being proposed by one of the band members. Suicide Silence might know more about this

What influences/inspires you today? Where do you draw inspiration from? Is it important to have some sort of message?
-We don’t really actively try to get a particular message across in our songs, in the same sense that, we are not trying to be a “political” band. The only aim that we have in Hybrid Sheep is to offer good entertainment.

We hear about what state the record industry is in. Then we hear that cd sales are increasing. As a band that releases records do you notice the state the industry is in?
-At our level, we mainly sell CDs at our concerts. Our fans buy our CDs to support us and to have something to take away from the show. We cannot really gage what state the record industry is in from our point of view as it doesn’t really affect us.

What is your opinion on digital verses physical?
-The selling of digital CDs is a great tool for underground bands like ours. We can sell our music all across the globe without having to send CDs via courier. It really gives all bands, big and small, a chance to get their music heard.

What lies in the future?
-In the future we will continue to play music with great passion and we have already started to write new songs for the next album. Besides that, we’re just going to continue on, and progress in our personal lives.
