RISING CORE is a Spanish band that I discovered browsing the net. As I found them intriguing I had to interview. ©2015 Anders Ekdahl
As I am not at all familiar with your band perhaps you could introduce it?
-We love a lot of different musical styles and ambiences and we try to put all this in our music, we have an idea (like guitar riff, vocal lines, anything) and work without any kind of musical restriction. We believe that “Rise” is easy at first listen, but if you venture there are many details.
How hard was it for you guys to pick a name? What had that name have to have to fit your music?
-Could invent a story about a dream about dragons and stuff like that, but to be honest, with a name like Bartok your followers are very difficult to find info about you cause is impossible to fight against the great Bela Bartok, and change for Rising Core because if you seek this two words together (Rising Core) nothing appears and we seemed a good name, very practical.
What band(s) was it that turned you on to the kind of metal you play? What inspires you today?
-Pain of Salvation, Dream Theater, Evergrey to name a few, lately we hear Periphery and the James Labrie solo projects
What is the advantages/disadvantages of digital?
-Is very easy to listen and buy something from your computers mobile and able to carry with you anywhere, but in other hand is also very nice to have in your house a cabinet with original CDs, the covers the artwork etc …
Is digital killing the album format? Is there anything good with releasing single tracks only?
-I do not think they are killing perhaps filling
Is it a whole different way to promote a digital track than it is promoting a cd? Or do you go about doing promotion the same way?
-Is not exactly the same way but very similar
Do you feel like you are a part of a scene, locally, nationally and internationally?
– Since we have followers in Japan, Canada, Mexico…etc , we felt part of the international scene
How much of a touring band are you? Is touring/gigging still a great way of spreading the word of the band?
-Certainly our band is designed to play live in fact is what we like, just now beginning to schedule a tour which I hope will lead us to Europe, we would love to play in countries like Sweden and Finland, where the metal is much more recognized than in our country, in fact most of the group already visited these countries but only as tourists
What will the future bring?
-We are very optimistic and we look forward to what we do, we hope to make a tour and soon started recording our second cd
