Every band has to introduce their music to new people. What is it that you want people to get from listening to you guys?
-Every album is different and it comes with different state of mind in the composition. Hot`n`Heavy makes no exception. Combining our songs and messages that we play in our shows to answer briefly to your question, we want people to get from us, first of all, the feeling that they`re not alone, the feeling that we are all different and dark but that sometimes dark is good. We want them to understand that sufferance, need of revenge, pain, light, love or hate are feelings that we all feel but we should all use in the purpose of growing our spirit and mind, in the purpose of finding a better self. So what we want our public to get and see is that the good comes from our inner selves as long as we embrace and accept our downfalls.
How hard was it for you guys to pick a name? What had that name have to have to fit your music?
-It wasn’t hard at all actually… Our music is energy, is ambition, is power, is light, love, is electric and when we play it, it becomes an aura that surrounds us, a scarlet aura.
Everybody is influenced by certain things. What band(s) was it that turned you on to the kind of music you play? What inspires you today?
-The songs are written by Mihai Danciulescu, lyrics are written by Aura Danciulescu and of course Rene Nistor – the bass player and Sorin Ristea – the drummer came along with their experience, talent and skills and as we are different, too many influences came along the way. But to mention few important ones from the metal stage, we would say Helloween, Iron Maiden, Kreator, Rhapsody.
When you formed did you do so with the intent of knowing what to play or did you do so from the point of having a band name and then picking a sound? How did you settle on the name/sound combo?
-We took it step by step. We changed in the last four years and also our view of writing music and expressing it changed but nevertheless, all the way we did what we felt, staying true to our heart, no matter how good or bad the music was. Now, Scarlet Aura is Hot`n`Heavy!
I believe that digital is killing the album format. People’s changing habit of how they listen to music will result in there being no albums. Is there anything good with releasing single tracks only?
-Releasing single tracks helps the band promote itself and the fans to enjoy a glimpse of the record that will be released. Digital makes the world access easier your music and any artist wants this. So… we know that people have different ways of enjoying music so as long as they buy it and appreciate it, the format doesn’t matter anymore.
What part does art-work and lay-out play when you release new recordings? How do you best catch people’s attention?
-It plays an important part but you know… not all of us have an artist view over the artwork and the layout so it`s a quite subjective matter. Us, the musicians, always think that music has to speak for ourselves and not an artwork but we understand the marketing role in this industry and we try to fit in it as much as possible and try to get to collaborate with graphicians that understands our view and get the best out of this…
Has social media re-written the rules on how to promote your music? Or do you go about doing promotion the same way?
-We do promotion in every possible way, the world has become bigger with social media, having so many bands and materials out there. But we`re having an amazing management that gets us through this so we can get to be artists loyal to our music and to our fans.
When you play in a band, does that make you feel like you are a part of a scene, of something bigger and grander?
-Definitely! We are responsible that through our music we have the chance to change lives in better, to make people aware of their potential and aware of this amazing and miracle thing that is called life. So yes, we are wings bearer, trying to glimpse hope, peace, love and light where is needed but also some taste of revenge, true vision of the pain that hides all over the world, the injustice and so on… We are messengers and eyes openers… This is big!
How much of a touring band are you? Is touring/gigging still a great way of spreading the word of the band?
-Yeah! Touring is great also for the band as for the public. Knowing people and playing to them is the most powerful way to connect and transmit your message. We`ll be on tour soon so join us!
What will the future bring?
-For us or for the entire human being? :)))) Who knows? For us, All we can hope for is many good shows with the cance to know as many beautiful people as possible, good albums, nice videos and amazing collaborations. For the entire world we hope for peace and wealth 🙂 Go wild, Go scarlet!
