Greek heavy metal is not something I hear evey day but when it happens, like with SENSE OF FEAR, I just have to interview them. Anders Ekdahl ©2018
What pressure is there in releasing an album compared to a demo? Do you feel that there is a sort of pressure to succeed when you release and album, that it sorta is for real now?
-The pressure to create your music the way you want is always high. We always have in our minds that the songs in our Demo before we record them in the Album must be as close as they can be and later in the Album we are making the final touchings. So there is always a pressure but it is something that we like and enjoy… and it’s real.
When you release a record of any sort what kind of expectations do you have on it? Do you set up goals for it?
-Our first goal is to achieve the result we wanted in the first place. Our second goal is to present to our fans the sound and the feelings that Sense of Fear represent. It is very important for us so that everyone can understand that what they hear is a Sense’s song.
When you release an album and you go out and play live and people know your songs, how weird is that? That people know what you have written on your own?
-Weird??? Not weird at all. It is very pleasant for us to see people who know our songs. I think that everyone wants that.
Do you feel that you have to follow in the footsteps of the last album for a new when it comes to lyrics and art work for everything so that those that bought the previous record will recognize your sound?
-As I said we want people to understand that this is our music and our songs but we do not want to copy ourselves again and again. Every song has its own identity for us and its own character.
Do you feel like you are a part of a greater community because you play in a band?
-It is very important to belong in a band. The relations between the members are strong. It is also important to be first a friend and then a bandmate to succeed as a whole.
How hard/easy is it to come up with new songs that still are you but doesn’t sound like anything you’ve already written?
-Ideas come easily and all the time. But I want always to feel the right time to complete a song, instrumentally or lyric wise.
What influences/inspires you today? Where do you draw inspiration from? Is it important to have some sort of message?
-I listen to music all the time. It is my passion. My inspirations came many times with the way I feel in my personal life and this is one of my goals, to express my feelings through my music.
We hear about what state the record industry is in. Then we hear that cd sales are increasing. As a band that releases records do you notice the state the industry is in?
-I believe that the problem begins with the internet for all the music industries. I mean, it is also a very helpful tool to be recognized easily but it is not only for you ahahaha. And there is where the problem begins. There are tons of good bands all over the world and it is very hard to stand out. So the job of a record label is very hard to choose and promote a band. Thankfully there is an increase in the cd sales.
What is your opinion on digital versus physical?
-We have to follow the waves today. But in my opinion, nothing compares with the physical.
What lies in the future?
-We will continue our hard work and we will now begin touring to promote our album “As the ages passing by…” which is set to be released in 20th of April via Rockshots records.
