Gothic metal. Does that tickle your fancy? If so check out SHARZALL by reading this interview and then search for their music. Anders Ekdahl ©2017

When the band came into creation what was the main purpose for it ?
-The purpose was to establish in Slovakia a band that clearly can excite the Gothic metal scene in our home and work to be one of the world’s top music genres.

How hard is it to come up with a sound that is all yours? What bits’n’pieces do you pick up from other stuff to make it your sound?
-As a musician acting in various bands for my past, I recognized the necessity to create an instant musical signature for the listener to identify with Sharzall. In fact, it was very difficult to burn the sound and all the passages to suit my high standards. Assuming we would have a larger budget on the album, the sound would be even more sophisticated, and the man who would be masturbating would be literally tortured by my demands.

I have no idea what kind of creative process you guys go through but how hard is it to record and release new songs?
-The creative process at Sharzall reflects many different factors. Lyrics I draw from my experiences of rich life. We all share this music and it is always a matter of feeling, which we then form into a clear and strict concept. And how difficult is it? Since we do not copy anything or anything, it is quite laborious to hurt the relationship between the feeling and the final result, but we have always succeeded in doing so. Know how to reveal, of course, I will not comment

Today technology allows you to record at home and release your music digitally. But in doing so is there a risk that you release only single songs because that is what is demanded to stay atop and therefore you end up killing the album for example?
-We will never kill albums with solo singels. We are a thematic band and the theme is a concept and it can not be described in two single singles as I have set visions

I for one feel that the change in how people listen to music today, by downloading it and expecting to get it for free, will kill music as we know it. What kind of future is there for music?
-From my point of view, everyone is sure to do that as well. However, the question of the future remains whether or not the band will invest thousands of euros in the album so that the songs will be downloaded or sold after a few cents. If the fan base does not buy music from artists, it is quite possible that the genre will be the mainstream and the pop paid by the mainstream partners is driving the planet. Another vision is that metal will be pressed into the mainstreem but it will not be the metal anymore. In any case, support by buying bands contributes to the new content and life of the bands

What kind of responses do you get to your music? What has been the thing that has gotten the most attention?
-People’s opinions can be divided into several perspectives. 95% of listeners who are musically literate say “wow aka mega band” then follow the second “wow they are with slovakia” and so on 5% is Haters and musically illiterate people or envious but they neither have much influence on Sharzall. Of course, negative criticism if we are constructively accepted with humility, but we take it as a subjective view of the taste of a particular target group.

We live in a world where there are no real distances between people communicating anymore. What has been the most surprising contact so far?
-We are very happy and we are very proud of our work. The most amazing surprise and joy is joining NRT Records, whose CEO is Phillipp Gottfried who has never shown enthusiasm for our work. For me personally, this co-operation is a tribute to our squadron, and we take Phillip as the seventh member of Sharzall.

Does playing in a band make you feel like you are a part of a greater community? What has music brought with it that you would have otherwise missed out on?
-It’s hard to say how you feel. On the one hand, we know people know we’re here. On the other hand, we know they accept us. On the third side, however, it is somewhat frustrating that we have achieved so much in such a short time. Everyone asks why. That’s why because I work on things for the better and the day and night. We read it so that Sharzall can count on the scene and we can find it every step of the way.

What is the live scene like for you? Do you feel that playing live helps building a bigger following?
-The scene for us is alive. Concerts are of course plus. However, the market has been convinced by the people just enough for concerts, and so on. We are not publicity. We do not squeeze our eagerness to write or write us there or there. We want to make good music. We want to draw experiences with concerts to read energy and create. Who likes to join our wave. Who does not like to take a nice wave on it. Anyway, I repeat it for foreigners as I said at home. Sharzall was created for us not for the audience and if the audience likes it’s a bonus

What plans do you have for the future?
-The plans are clear. We want to play the entire planet. We want to play with bands such as Rammstein, Dir en Gray, Deluhi, Gackt, Sad dols, and so on. Oriented bands and show that Slovakia has a good metal built on both emotions and strict races. We want to show that even a great first-of-its-kind arrogant and rigorous set is actually created by smiles and humble people who are conscious and understand both music and inter-human associations and that the music we do is more than just Gothic metal. At the end I want to say goodbye to All readers and Sharzall fans. I want to thank all who are listening to us and are helping us in our musical struggle. Do not forget Sharzall because in key moments we will show that we can bind both the scene and the masses. well thank you Rony Rage
