I gotta admit that the band name ST PROSTITUTE kinda puzzles me. But then again many band names do once you start to think about it. ©2016 Anders Ekdahl
As you might not be that known to most people a short introduction might be in order.
Kris Freeze – Well, the band consists of the Korsholm Brothers (Fussy on lead vocals/rhythm guitar and Morten on lead guitar), Jack Andy on the drums, Kris Freeze on rhythm and lead guitar & Jones Bak on the bass. We play classic rock’n’roll with tons of powerful guitar riffs and catchy vocals.
How does this new album compare to the previous ones?
-Kris Freeze – The new album is more melodic and a bit more serious than the first, I think. With two new guys, Jones and I – we’ve captured that live feeling we deliver every time we’re playing. The album is also a bit experimental, but still, there is space for a lot of guitar solos and an actual guitar duel between Morten and I.
Was it hard for you to come up with a sound you all could agree on?
Kris Freeze – Well, it took us more than one year of blood, sweat and tears to finish Glorified. We are 5 individuals, with 5 different opinions and 5 different styles. But at the end we always manage to agree, weather it’s a new song, or the overall sound on an album. Of cause with lots of help from our producer Rune Buck.
How important are the lyrics to you? What kind of topics do you deal with?
Fussy – The lyrics are about everything from life to death and everything in between! Some lyrics are more important to me than others but in general I use my lyrics as an outlet for all the noise in my head!
How important is the cover artwork for you? How much do you decide in choosing art work?
Kris Freeze – The visual expression for us is really important, both live and of course on the cover artwork as well. We want to catch peoples attention, therefor we once again cooperated with Martin “Lovegun”, which in my opinion, is the most rock’n’roll kindda guy in Denmark. He really knows how to capture the real rock feeling in pictures and the final artwork. I couldn’t imagine anyone else to do the artwork than him.
To be honest, Martin got the freedom to decide almost everything, and once again he did an awesome job.
Where outside of your country have you had success with your previous albums?
Kris Freeze – “Here Come The Prostitutes” got some great reviews worldwide. “All Hail The New Kings Of Denmark” is a quote from Classic Rock Magasin UK, by no other than Geoff Barton. Several magazines and websites had the album on a “Best of 2012” list. Furthermore 3 songs from the album appeared on different UK compilations – especially Classic Rock Magazine’s “Best of 2012”.
Why is it that we do not see more metal bands from your country making it big internationally?
Kris Freeze – We are not a metal band, if that’s what the question is about. But from Denmark there is Volbeat, Pretty Maids (still going strong). Also Hatesphere, Hellhorse, Black Book Lodge and I could go on.
These bands have pretty good success allover the world. The question is just WHEN “you are making it big internationally”. Is it when you convince the hip-hop crowd, pop crowd, the hipsters to love your music? Do we need to convince them, that rock/metal is the shit? Or is it enough to get the dedicated rock fans worldwide to say; “You guys rock!!”..?
Is it when you have your own private jet and you’re touring 300 days throughout the year? Is it enough with Europe? And so on…
What is your local metal scene like? What status does your band have in the national metal scene?
Kris Freeze – I have no idea, we play rock! BUT at the Hard Rock scene, I think after 2 albums and some really kickass live shows – we have a pretty good status here in Denmark!
What is the general populations opinion on rock/metal? Is being a rock/metal musician a respectable choice?
Kris Freeze – I think it’s always respectable when you do what you love all the way.
What does the future hold for you?
Fussy – It’s hard to tell what the future brings for us but hopefully great things! We are currently planing jobs in Europe so we are looking forward to play for all the beautiful people in Europe!
