I totally love classic German heavy metal. And especially how dedicated they are to keeping the flame burning. So when I came upon STEEL MESSIAH I had interview them. Anders Ekdahl ©2016
When you formed the band with what intention did you do so? How easy was it to pick up a thread as to where your sound is going?
-We were a bunch of metalheads that just wanted to create our own music. Since all of us have different metal preferences the perfect sound was and still is difficult to find for us sometimes. But in the end we always manage to satisfy everyone. And of course we all share a passion for traditional heavy metal so it always has been quite clear how the band will sound in general.
As I haven’t recorded anything I have no idea what that is like but are you ever 100% satisfied? How pleased are you with your latest recording?
-We never recorded anything before our EP, so we didn´t had much experience. But we took it seriously and we are pretty proud of it! Of course one is always wiser afterwards and for our first full album we want a more organic sound and real drums! haha
To me a band name is the first thing I notice. If it feels cool then I’ll check the band out. How do you explain the meaning of the band name?
-There is no special meaning behind it to be honest…We were just looking for a cool name and so we came up with „Steel Messiah“.
4. How important is image to the band? What impression do you want the fans to get of the band?
-We have no dress code or something like that, but we want to be seen as a passionate band without any religious or political content.
I am a huge fan of LP art work. How important is it to have the right art work for your album?
-Music always comes first but the right artwork is essential, too. The picture for our EP was made quite in a rush and we are not satisfied with it but we will definitely arrange enough time for our album cover!
We live in a superficial world today where you don’t exist if you are not on Youtube and Facebook. Has social media been only beneficial in socializing with the fans or is there a down side to it too?
-Until now we haven´t had any bad situiations according to social media or youtube. Hopefully it will stay this way.
Something I often wonder about is when you play in a band does it feel like you are a part of a massive community?
-Of course! The band is like a second family. You share your hopes and dreams your good and bad days and work hard for years. At least this is how it feels in our band.
How important is it to be signed to label today? What can they do that you cannot do on your own?
-We did everything on our own so far so we don´t really have any experiences with labels…
How much of a touring band are you guys? How hard is it to get gigs outside of your borders?
-We just started playing gigs this year and we didn´t tour until now but we are hoping and looking forward to do so soon!
What will the future bring?
-We are going to record our album in summer 2017 and then we will try to spread our music as much as we can!!!
