I am a word buff so when I find a band name that excites me I want to know the reason behind the choice. So how did you pick your name?
Chris: Sunterra is the union of the sun and the earth and also, of the elements fire and earth.
There are so many genres and sub-genres today that it is hard to keep track of them all. So what was it that made you pick the style you play?
Chris: We love hard and melancholic music and also music for having fun. So this is the result of our experiments with sounds and styles.
What influences you in creating your music? What is/has been the single greatest influence?
Chris: The indfluences are coming from bands, that we like and different music-styles. The result is a unique sounds, which represents all our idols and influences.
How important is it to have a message as a band?
Chris: To carry a message is one big topoc in creating our lyrics. This has not to be a political one, but even how it could run worse, if we don’t respect another and our environtment.
Is image an important factor to the bands appearance?
Chris: Sure for bands or musicians without mental strenght; they need to pretend. If you believe in what you’re doing, you won’t care about, what other people say.
How important is it to have an album cover that stands out to grab people’s attention in this day and age?
Chris: As a musician you want to transport a message. The cover is a good way, to get peoples attention. It should reflect, which music can be expected. Otherwise, in our case, we concentrTe more on creating music, than on cover-artwork. It’s a lousy job, to find the correct image.
What kind of respect do you get from your local scene?
Chris: After 10 years of hiatus it whas overwhelming to see, how many we fans we still have.
How massive is it to get response from places you have never heard of?
Chris: On my trip to Mexico 2 years ago i found one of our CDs in a local music-store. You can imagine, how stunned i had been.
Is playing live still a great way to get new fans to discover you?
Chris: Of course you can reach an audience, which has never heard from you, especially on festivals. On the other hand it’s a great thing for us as a band to get in contact with our fans.
What does the future have in its womb?
Chris: We’re working on new material for our next Album, so stay tuned.
