I really hope that there is no THE END OF MELANCHOLY. I love melancholy. Anders Ekdahl ©2018
What pressure is there in releasing an album compared to a demo? Do you feel that there is a sort of pressure to succeed when you release and album, that it sorta is for real now?
Olly: Release of the album is a big, hard and important work rather than releasing of a demo. The most pressure of it is composing of a good, unique material. You need to find your own style, sound and other stuff. Demo is just your appearance, your first date with audience. But for me it was big, hard work too! I can’t just do smth without it)
When you release a record of any sort what kind of expectations do you have on it? Do you set up goals for it?
-I expect that people will adore it. Don’t see a big ego in these words, (cause I hate it). I mean I try to make music only better and better. Cause only this measure I expect from my favorite artists. You need to feel brilliant and amazing emotions from music – in other way – it’s boring) «If I fuckin’ die without having written two, three, or four brilliant rock songs… I don’t know why I lived my life». Courtney Love said great words, you know.
When you release an album and you go out and play live and people know your songs, how weird is that? That people know what you have written on your own?
-Well, that’s what it’s all about!
Do you feel that you have to follow in the footsteps of the last album for a new when it comes to lyrics and art work for everything so that those that bought the previous record will recognize your sound?
-we are preparing to release our first album – so now im not sure with that thing.
But I can say that, obviously, the artist need to add smth new in his work, to spread the area of his ideas. I think it’s great to change, but of course it won’t be good if you start to play metal and the next album will be in Reggie.
Do you feel like you are a part of a greater community because you play in a band?
-Yes! I can’t live without that. Ma boys are my friends and family!
How hard/easy is it to come up with new songs that that still are you but doesn’t sound like anything you’ve already written?
-Well….we try to compose our songs in our own style. By the way it was long process to make all songs in one style our band. But we did it!
What influences/inspires you today? Where do you draw inspiration from? Is it important to have some sort of message?
-I get inspiration of my life and just turn it into the music. I can’t realize to make an art without a message in it! It is the conversation between an artist and his listeners.
What is your opinion on digital verses physical?
-Well, digital is very good to spread your music in other countries. And physical is more for your tactile sensation. As for me, I listen all my music on my phone or laptop, but of course the cd’s creates the special atmosphere. But I like the tapes more than anything else, if we’re talking about the atmosphere, you know. Physical it is great attribute for your favorite bands.
What lies in the future?
-In the future will be our first debut album and tour! Stay tuned!
