How hard was it to come up with a band name and how does the name fit the music?
-The name was extremely easy to come up with and we settled on it on the first rehearsal we ever did ,thinking back it wasn’t a very wise choice as it makes google searches quite confusing but I still think it fits our music pretty well as It evokes dark ,fun and dangerous feelings.
As I am new to your band perhaps a short introduction might be in order?
-We formed in 2006 released a demo in 2007 and started playing shows ,an Ep followed with more and more local touring and in 2010 we entered the studio to record our first full length that was released in 2012 . More shows came by and now we have our second full length “Earth Inferno” released by Witches Brew
As I am no musician I have no idea how it works, but how do you make your own music based on what influences you? What parts do you pick?
-I think musical influences work more on the way one plays the instrument instead of the music you create ,for instance with me I have a very hetfield/young way of precise rhythm riffing .When it comes to creating music I just write based on what i´m feeling at the moment based on mood or what i´m hearing in my head ,I don’t try to write parts to mimic other bands. Our influences come more from books and movies than bands actually.
When you are in a band does it feel lkke you are a part of a worldwide movement?
-I can’t really say ,we were always outcasts in the argentine and worldwide scene .Its a good thing that people are finally starting to understand the music that we do and what we are all about .
How important is it that you look the part in promo shots and stuff? How important is the graphic side of the band?
-It’s extremely important to me ,with the over saturation of bands in todays market one needs the “full package” to stand out from the crap and have fans remember you
What would you say influences your lyrics? How important are they?
-Same as the music ,we are influenced by books, movies, stories ,old lore ,mythology and folklore. We have written about everything from ghost stories to serial killers to ancient alien gods .We are a very cultured band in that sense haha.
Is the album as relevant today as it was in the 70s and 80s? Is digital killing the album?
-I wasn’t buying albums in those days but definitely not ,digital has fucked physicall sales big time but at least vinyl has come back and there is still a market . It isn’t as bad as it was back in 2008-2011though .I will always preffer a good cd or album to a shitty mp3 . Earth Inferno was recorded and mixed to be played on a stereo not laptop speakers .
Where will the future of format end – digital verses physical verses whatever?
-Technology has a way of reinventing itself every year so its impossible to know but there´ll always be people that will want the full physical format . Nowadays you can pirate movies on the day of the release but people still go to the movies because they crave the whole experience ,same as popping a cd on the stereo and reading the booklet while having a drink.
How much of a touring entity are you guys? What is a live experiencevwith you like?
-We toured Argentina extensively in the past and were supposed to embark on a Brazillian tour back in 2012 but it backfired . We try to give a really energetic live show but if the crowd is dead it becomes pretty difficult honestly ,we´ve had some problems on stage before . We are quite interested in conquering Europe next .
