THE NEARLY DEADS

Don’t believe the hype! I usually don’t do that but with THE NEARLY DEADS I am inclined to agree with the hype. This is some pretty darn cool music. Anders Ekdahl ©2016

You might known to many people but there might still be those, like me, that aren’t that familiar with THE NEARLY DEADS so waht is this band all about?
-The Nearly Deads are all about Zombies, Movies, Video games, and Punk Rock. We’re into Positivity, Empowerment, and the occasional shopping spree. -Javi

How does your latest recording compare to the previous ones?
-The Grunge/Hard Rock influence is definitely audible in our Self Titled EP. Invisible tonight we tapped into our Pop Punk roots, but after touring with bands like In This Moment and Butcher Babies, we’re gonna try a slightly heavier style. -Javi

When you started was it hard for you to come up with a sound you all could agree on?
-It’s always a puzzle with each record trying to find the right sound. But we have a solid line up and we’re working with great producers, we’re all super excited the way our new record is coming along. -Javi

How important are the lyrics to you? What kind of topics do you deal with?
-The lyrics definitely speak to people. We have fans say how much certain songs mean to them and how it’s helped them with what they’re going through. Topics vary, but I’m getting pretty good at guessing what the songs are about: Life, break-ups, cats. -Javi

How important is the cover art work for you? How much do you decide in choosing art work?
-The cover art was TJ’s idea that fit well with the title track Invisible Tonight. -Javi

There used to be a time when success could be measured in record sales alone but those days seem far and few between so how do you view success today?
-I view success by how long we’re able to stay on the road. I love having time off to regroup, but too much time I start to get anxious. -Javi

Is it harder today to get noticed both nationally and internationally than it was 10 or 20 years ago? Is the competition tougher today?
-There are more musical acts today than there were 20 years ago. There’s supply, but no demand. It can get competitve, but that’s half the fun. -Javi

In having no image you have an image. How important is it to have something that makes you stick out a bit? Has the music scene become to conformed? is there a lack of controversy today in music?
-Image is very important, whether you’re a band like KISS or Nirvana. Image, like music, is an excellent way to express yourself. The music scene is going one direction, there’s no controversy in that. No pun intended. -Javi

I watched a documentary recently on Janis Joplin and in it she said that her parents wanted her to become a school teacher like everybody else. Is being a musician today more acceptable than it used to be 30 or 40 years ago?
-It has in a way, hence the influx of new bands. I think most parents just want what’s best for their kids. Luckily, we’re all fortunate enough to have understanding parents and without their support we definitely wouldn’t be here. -Javi

What does the future hold for you?
-We are currently working on our brand new record. Our fans will definitely love it. It’s gonna be hard-hitting for sure. -Javi
