You might have read Shan’s review of VELVET SIX’s album. Here comes the interview. Read what this Finnish band has to say. ©2015 Anders Ekdahl

Could you please introduce us to the band?
We are Velvet Six from Kokkola, Finland. Our line-up is as follows: Olle Wallenius (vocals), Richard Vikman (guitar), Christoffer Solborg (guitar), Henrik Björkgård (drums), Miro Kronqvist (keyboard) and Matias Muotio (bass).

What has been the greatest catalyst in forming your sound?
-The thing that really gets the creative flow going is the feelings and emotion that we encounter in everyday life, happiness and sadness, joy and sorrow. Of course we have our influences from other bands such as: Him, The 69 eyes, Billy Idol, Danzig, Type o negative and many, many more.

How hard is it to record and release new songs?
-It’s really not that hard since we started working with Sami Koivisto at Biotech Audio solutions and Inverse Records. We just write our songs, record them and then planning the album.

Has digital made it easier to get your music released?
-Yes it has in many ways. It’s so much easier to spread the music all around the world when you have access to the internet. All internet radios and spotify make our music virtually available for everyone with an internet connection.

If you release your music digitally is there a risk that you release songs too soon, before you are ready compared to releasing them on cd?
-Well the risk that we would release something too soon by mistake is obviously very tiny, but if someone get a hold of our songs before the release there is no way we could stop them from leaking it.

What kind of responses have you had to your recorded music?
-So far very good. Our first album ”Dark city nightlife” was very well received and got good reviews and feedback from both media and fans. The upcoming album ”Demons Los Divas” has gotten some good reviews too already, so be sure to check it out once it’s released as it will be available on spotify and sold all around the world in different webshops. You’ll find the shops and reviews on our Inverse page:

We live in a world where there are no real distances between people communicating anymore. What has been the most surprising contact so far?
-Due to the fact that there is almost no distance between the people thanks to the internet, there hasn’t been any surprising contacts either. It’s of course always very pleasant to make new contacts.

Do you feel line you are a part of a greater conmunity plsying in a metal band?
-Not really because we play metal, but mostly that we have the privilege to play music at all. I wouldn’t describe it as a community, but rather an opportunity to create something and share it with the rest of the world.

What is the live scene like for you? Do you feel that playing live helps building a bigger following?
-The live scene is one of the most important aspects for our band, it’s where we get to meet the people we play for and get to exchange energy with the audience. We definitely think that playing live shows is a great way to spread music and share it live with more people.

What plans do you have for the future
-So far it looks like we are playing a lot of shows after the release of ”Demons Los Divas” and we’ve also started jamming some tunes for the third album already, even though it’s only in baby shoes now. We’ll release our new album, play some shows and then see where the world takes us. For the readers future i recommend giving our facebook page a like at:
