There is a charm to be in on a band from the very beginning. Following them from demo to album to world domination. You have the chance to do so with WOLFSBLOOD. Anders Ekdahl ©2016

What is it that fascinates you into coming up with new songs and albums?
-It´s difficult to pin point one thing…one is my own satisfaction of writing something I really like myself, another is the thing of having others ( the band members) playing and liking your songs…but I guess there is a little of the “being famous” thing too…not that I ever was or will be famous….

How is this new recording different from the previous? How do you take your sound one step further?
-Well…we haven´t recorded yet, so it´s hard to say…but one thing that will be slightly different is the diversity of songs…we have quite a handful of songs that spans from really slow/doomy to more traditional punk-crust-metal tempo…so the new recording will give Wolfsblood a more accurate sound I guess.

When you write songs about the topics you do what kind of reactions do you get?
-Well…some time ago, we were looking for a new singer (DIvina was a bit fuzzy..), a girl was ready to give it a try…until she found out that we´re not a left wing punk band with shitty lyrics, rather a horror punk/metal band..then she said no.
The punk scene in Malmö hasn´t quite got the message…yet. We´re not like them…we´re not a political band and we don´t look like middle class kids trying to look like poor crust punks…and therefore we haven´t got the chance of playing in their places. But I hope things will change..there is room for us too.

Whenever I think of you I cannot help wandering off to different bands. What bands do you indentify with?
-I like to think we sound like a mix of Discharge and Motorhead. But we have loads of band we like and probably steal from too…like Anti Cimex, From Ashes Rise, Disfear, Electric Wizard, Bolt Thrower, Danzig,……

How did you go about chosing art work for this new album? What was important to have in it?
-We haven´t decided on this subject yet. If I was the one deciding, it will be a cover with both worlds…punk and metal…so something like a female Baphomet with a bullet belt, studs and spikey hair, and…skulls..bones….all the clichés available !

What kind of topics do each song deal with? Is there a red thread to the songs?
-No, not really. We sing about death, love, sex and mysterious things. Some lyrics are slightly political…you know, anti-this, anti-that…As long as the lyric is good, the subject is irrelevant…but no left or right wing stuff. We are five different people who have different political views…My lyrics tend to be the darker, more horror inflenced, and Divinas are more personal

How do you come up with song titles? What do they have to have to fit the songs?
-Hmm…I think I get ideas when I read something…or watch TV. And there is no rule that the song title has to sound “dark” or something like that…even if most of our songs actually do have a dark or negative title…we sing about dark stuff so I guess that´s natural.

Is digital a format that fits your music? Is digital killing music?
-We will release our album on vinyl. No CD. And it will be available for download. The digital format is really boring. It´s not killing the music, but perhaps the art…the cover…the posters. All those things I love. Internet, on the other hand, is killing the sales of albums..no doubt.

How much of a live band are you? How important is playing live?
-Playing live is the reason you rehearse…it´s the most important thing we can do to get through the white noise…there are so many bands, so many releases that it´s almost impossible to get a record deal. Our line up hasn´t been complete for a year, that is until last week..so we haven´t played any gigs. But now we are a full band again…

What lies in the future?
-First we rehearse and then record and release our very delayed album. Then we will work our asses off to get out and play as much as we can….hopefully we can do a scandinavia tour with Sacrilege (but don´t tell them, they don´t know). Then, sometime next year, we record a new album (the songs are ready…)…..Armageddon´s getting closer, so no time to waste.
