Never heard of AWAKEN before I got sent this one. Don’t know too much about them and their history. But now is as good a time as any to get to know the band. With a new album out on Mausoleum Records I kinda look forward to hearing what the band has to offer. I’ve always liked Fates Warning. I like how that band works with different temperaments, how they go from the somber to the wild and often within the same song. AWAKEN have that same kind of progressive touch to their metal even if they are more direct. You get that feeling of afterthought when you listen to this album that you ever so often find in progressive metal. This is metal that is best suited listening to with head phones on. Anders Ekdahl
