Conan’s First Date – “The Devil Is On The Loose”

Conan’s First Date – “The Devil Is On The Loose” (

Despite their frivolous name, this Hungarian crew aren’t any bit jovial, fusing together a number of dark styles from Life Of Agony to Paradise Lost and Machine Head. Trippy melancholic vocals contrast with roars amidst doom death riffs and dervish rhythms very often mixed together in heady songs like ‘The Man, The Monster’, ‘Undead Ballet’ and ‘Fangs And Claws’. For an emerging scene this is a very respectable effort indeed with competent musicianship, intelligent song structures and decent production. CFD formed in 2008 and although “The Devil Is On The Loose” is the band’s debut, they’ve released a number of EPs and even videos that have made it onto Hungarian MTV which may explain their experience. As such, despite their name, there’s more than enough here for the band to be looking outside their own country to gain a bit more money for their worth.
