I’m the first to admit that I have no clue what so ever when it comes to instrumental albums. Just as I have no clue what makes watching people dance so interesting. But since I’m into music I give every instrumental album a chance. I don’t know why but for some reason I find it harder to review stuff that don’t have any vocals. It is strange how tradition plays such a huge role in how you view music. When there’s no vocals you gotta adjust your ears and brain to listen to music in a whole different way. All of a sudden your cultural baggage plays a bigger role in how your brain processes what it hears. If I were to compare this to anything that I’ve heard I guess that Satriani is the closest I get. This is much more about creating an atmosphere than it is a showing off on technique and style. And since I don’t play the guitar myself this is the style that I prefer, where I can dream away to landscapes created in my brain. Anders Ekdahl
