It is not often that I get to review a book but that is the occasion this time around. I have been aware of the Aussie metal scene since the 80s thanks to Metal Forces (magazine) and Mortal Sin (band). But it didn’t start there. I don’t think that there isn’t anybody that hasn’t heard of AC/DC or Rose Tattoo but there was more to the 70s than just those bands. And that is what so great about this book that it charts the rise of the Aussie hardrock/metal scene from the beginning up to the present. If you follow my interviews you know that every now and then an Australian band pops up. This book might not cover every Australian band that has ever been active but it is pretty close to being comprehensive. So if you want to know more about the Australian metal scene or if you are looking for that one record that you don’t really know the name of this is the book for you. Anders Ekdahl
