Feral Sun – “Evacuate” (www.facebook.com/feralsunrock)
Hot off their support tour with Skindred, London crew Feral Sun have rebooted their debut album with 3 extra tracks which makes for a good show given the number of new fans they’ve now got – including myself! Playing alt / post hardcore rock metal in no small measure to the likes of Alter Bridge, Stone Sour along with hints of Metallica expect colossal power rock riffs and emotionally raw solos from Marco lo Coco all to the tune of Mick Burns manly soulful vocals on songs like ‘People Dying’, ‘Breath’ and ‘Alone’. There’s a quiet confidence and certainly plenty of talent in their solid musicianship that allows Feral Sun to sound as heavy in holding their own against any metal band while also appealing through their deep soulful melodies to anyone into post grunge or alt. Indeed, the 11 tracks herein reflect that, being pressure tested relentlessly on the road before being honed and deemed worthy by the band to be recorded both with passion and pride. While in most cases re-issues should be taken with a pinch of salt, “Evacuate” actually does the opposite of making one bale, but rather clamoring for more, much more in fact. Everything is now falling into place for one of the new breed of Brit Rock bands set to break big in 2015.
