FUNERAL IN HEAVEN/PLECTO ALIQUEM CAPITE
“Astral Mantras of Dyslexia”
(Dunkelheit Producktionen)
Oh no, not another split album! I guess I have no other choice but to tackle this one too. Funeral In Heaven and Plecto Aliquem Capite are new to me. I can’t even remember having read about them on-line. I don’t even think I’ve heard any metal from Sri Lanka before. Which doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing. Now I can approach this with fresh ears. No pre-conceived notion of what to expect. Let us start with Funeral In Heaven. I’m not that into ritualistic, folk music. So to start an album by something that feels like a summoning of ancient gods might not get my juices flowing. But then things get going with some Burzumic/Xasthur-esque black metal. This I can understand. This I can like. As for Plecto Aliquem Capite. Well they too are black metal but more in the Mayhem chaos style. This is music that needs some getting used to before you make your ruling. The overall impression is that you need to have an interest in black metal beyond the normal to give this a chance. If you want something that challenges you then this is the one. Anders Ekdahl
