Interment – “Scent Of The Buried”

Interment – “Scent Of The Buried” (Pulverised Records)

Battle Helm Rating

Old school, merciless HM-2 Swe-Death! Originally formed in the late 80s as Beyond, Interment came into being around the early 90s with promising if short lived results when all the members went on to form and play in other groups such as Uncanny, Centinex, Regurgitate, Dellamorte, Moondark! However, the spirit of the band was very much in the heart of guitarist / vocalist Johan Jansson, who over the next 10 years began to grow Interment back from nothing, with new personnel, penning new material to feature on splits and compilations. The release of 2010’s full length “Into The Crypts Of Blasphemy” really saw the band take off on the live circuit, touring constantly and playing festivals in the US and Europe! Taking inspiration from Entombed, Dismember and Grave, Interment dish it all out formulaically as per those old school legends with filthy fat ass slabs of distorted riffage, bear growling vocals and epileptic drumming, but with a new found hunger fresh for blood on dirty ditties like ‘Dawn Of Blasphemy‘, ‘Repugnant Funeral‘ and ‘Skull Crushing Carnage‘. Recorded and mixed by the legendary Swe-Death pioneer Tomas Skogsberg (Nihilist, Entombed, Dismember, Grave, Desultory, etc), “Scent Of The Buried” very much has a live feel to the sound, reflective of material built to destroy at shows as Interment continue their resurrection from hell!
