ITHILIEN sounds like it could be from the great Greek epic Odysseus. The album title gives me vibes of a cold northern land filled with elfs and trolls. I have no idea what the reason is behind this rather hard to pronounce band name but if the music is anything as mystic as the name we’ll be in for a great ride. Call it heathen or pagan or whatever but I’m there faster than you can say it. There is an appeal to this kind of metal that speaks to a deeper sense in me. This is basically black metal with a twist but that twist alone is what sets this off as something a little bit special. You’ve heard this a number of times before, as with all music, but this is good enough to warrant an interest. Anders Ekdahl
