Jesus Chrüsler Supercar – “35 Supersonic” (Rodeostar / SPV)
If you like Entombed and The Hellacopters then Jesus Chrüsler Supercar comfortably fit right in between the two bringing in the best of both bands! Also from Stockholm, these guys take the grinding death n roll rhythm of the former and together with the latter’s punk fueled dirty ass rock n roll, create a harmonic balance that few will find hard to resist – as I did. With an EP and debut “Among The Ruins And Desolate Lands” already under their belts, the trio of Robban Bergeskans (vocals, bass), Fredrik Karnell (guitars) and Nicke Forsberg (drums) have returned for this second hell ride with studio legend Tomas Skogsberg (Hellacopters, Entombed), who has kept their feet firmly on the dirty fuzz and overdrive pedals, while dishing out the Svenska death n roll a plenty through catchy grooves and kick ass solos. Bergeskans strained, almost radio miked vocals at times sound like they’re being crushed by the noise generated on raucous tracks like ‘From Hell’, ‘Down, Down, Down’ or ‘Death Street 16′ (where they add in Sabbathy warbles) but frankly those monster riffs and that classic dirty Svenska sound always does it for me so lyrically things take a backseat to the heavenly heaviness of “35 Supersonic”!
