L’ORA X “Sottovoce”

(Ghost Label)

Battle Helm Rating

Metal sung in Italian is not the greatest featured item in my collection. But, and I am almost ashamed to admit it, but it does sound cool when Eros Ramazzotti and Laura Pausini sing in Italian so why should it not work for a metal band. L’ORA X say that they are inspired by that whole 90s nu metal wave featuring bands like Deftones and Korn. I stayed well clear of them back then even though I might have liked them. But that doesn’t really have any impact on what I think of this album. What first struck me is how heavy this is. The Mangano brothers have managed to get a really heavy groove going. Listening to this you can really imagine what it would be like to see them live. To see a whole sea of heads bopping along to the groove. And to me that is a major plus. If the music makes me bop my head along to it in my sofa I know that I like it. And I’m bopping like crazy right now. Anders Ekdahl
