This is the closest I’ve ever heard anyone boldly taking rock, let alone metal, into the exclusive domains of classical music and opera. The fact is, when I listen to the sublime vocal opera duo of Alessandro Conti and French soprano Emilie Ragni in ‘Notturno’, I’m not listening to either opera or rock, but a stunning hybrid defying purists that leaves me in rapture while on ‘One Ring To Rule Them All’, the cinematic splendor of Turilli’s orchestral and choral arrangements sees him attaining the lofty heights of Howard Shore or Hans Zimmer! Involving 2 full choirs, Turilli has created all sections of the backing orchestra, meticulously attending to every detail so it’s little wonder this album took over seven months of composition, three months of production, and over 50 days of mixing! And it’s grand, oh so grand, evoking visions of triumphant empires, breathtaking vistas and incredible visions of the future, thanks to the stellar keyboards no better depicted than in the closer ‘Of Michael The Archangel And Lucifer’s Fall Part II: Codex Nemesis’ – a five part 18 minute epic that dramatically brings all aspects of this sensational album to climax. “Prometheus, Symphonia Ignis Divinus” truly took my breath away, but beyond that, it’s limitless bounds of uplifting positive energy actually gave me hope, that nothing was unachievable in life and for that, it is truly a miraculous achievement.
