Battle Helm Rating

A veritable legend, the name of Michael Schenker is synonymous with the Scorpions and UFO as well as being a name in his own right! A virtuoso guitarist having started playing guitar at the age of 11, Schenker would record with the Scorpions on their debut “Lonesome Crow” when he was 17, and just a year later joining up with UFO. His name by now known internationally, Schenker went on to form his own namesake band which has existed in various incarnations for over 3 decades under the acronym MSG. Laying low during the turn of the century, he has pulled himself back to stardom remarkably over the last 10 years, a testimony to his rock greatness befitting this iconic status. As such, “A Decade Of The Mad Axeman” is a fitting tribute to this legendary axeman, and indeed documents the studio and live output of this renowned German guitarist between 2007 and 2016. A 31 track monster package, the 15 live tracks are culled from live shows in Japan 2010, High Voltage Festival 2011, Holland 2012, Madrid 2015 and once again, Japan 2016 featuring a star backing cast from his own brother Rudolph on ‘Rock You Like A Hurricane’ to the Temple Of Rock line up (including ex Scorpions bassist Francis Buchholz and drummer Herman Rarebell) to what has become legendary his return to Japan with no less than 3 of MSG’s singers in Gary Barden, Graham Bonnet and Robin McAuley! It’s an awesome career and as you listen to power and talent on classic songs like ‘Rock Bottom’, ‘Armed And Ready’ and ‘Doctor Doctor’ you’ll know why the name of Michael Schenker still resonates so famously and emotively with so many – despite his years and anguish, that young German kid hasn’t lost his heart or talent so prepare to be burned and blessed by his stellar fret board work once more!!!!
